The snow conditions Saturday were pretty good. It got a little slushy later in the day. Today (Sunday) could be crusty.
It was gusty Saturday. Big lulls and then completely powered up. Gotta be on your toes.

Re: how bad is calhoun?
The paper says there is a ice bike race on Calhoun at Noon today. I think I'll stay away. Has anyone been to Swede lately? Maybe I'll check that out instead.

Re: how bad is calhoun?
I'm wondering the same. I had foot surgery in November and this will be my first real session of the season (had one a couple of weeks ago that was a bust due to low wind). I need to get back into the groove but not invest too much drive time in case my foot can't handle too much. Perhaps with the t...

Re: Christmas at Lake Calhoun
Hey Leah!
I won't be able to make it because I had surgery on my foot a month ago. I am still a few weeks away from getting on skis or board. Have a blast and merry Christmas to you.

Ice on Tonka
Does anyone know if the ice out to Kite Island in drivable yet? Guess I'll have to go check it out. May got to Swede instead for my first session of the season. What better time than day one of the year?

Where to today?
Hi gang, Believe it or not, I am going out for the first time this year today. Hockey season is over and I finally have the time to get out to the lakes. I'm fairly novice and am wondering where would be a good launch today with the west winds and my rusty skills. I am on skis (still learning) and w...

Ben, I use Siteground for my bb and photos site. http://www.siteground.com. I have never experienced downtime and their customer support is awesome. They turn around service tickets in 15 minutes or less. Very impressive. I don't know if that is what you are looking for, but it would pay to check th...

I drove out to Tonka and walked out onto the lake in Wayzata. It was very soft and slushy, but seemed ridable. However, the wind had pretty much died so I decided not to try and fly. I had to run an errand out in Delano and was drooling at all the farm fields I passed, just sitting there waiting to ...

Conditions Tuesday?
Has anyone been out this morning? I am thinking of trying to get out this afternoon, but I don't want to contend with the slush. Any chance it froze up overnight?

That's funny. I seem to have no problem getting the kite to land upside down. At least when I don't want it to! That was an issue for me at Milly on Saturday. If the kite (12m TD) landed upside down due to operator error, it was very difficult to get it flipped over in low wind. But, that's another ...

I would be willing to exchange some demo time on my 12m TD for some tips from the wiley veterans around here! I got mine at Midwest Mountaineering. Larry at Scuba Center told me he can also get the TD's from Slingshot and would cut a couple hundred dollars off of Midwest's price. Scott, if by fast y...

Denis, Were you the ones at Sweede with the other red and orange TD? I had mine out as well, but it is a 12m. I had some inversion issues but I'm pretty sure it was due to rookie mistakes. I inflated to about 7 psi. Next time going for 8 or more. Next time I will introduce myself -- if I can stay up...

I am a hockey player and am, in fact, playing in a tournament this weekend at Augsburg. I have had the best sharpening done by arena personel. Hat trick in Richfield does a great job. It's on 66th St. between Portland and Bloomington Avenues. Also, Westwood sports in Bloomington or Burnsville would ...
