Quetzalcoatl getting ready to say something.......
Hi! Oh..... Remember you can still windsurf in the Winter on wide rivers....Of course dry suit, hood, booties (7cm thick) and lifevests are a must. It's best to use a weed fin,,,in case you hit some ice bergs. The impact is more gradual than just "dead on" with a straight fin. But yes,,,you DO have ...

Fri, Dec. 18th again I hydroplaned across Lake Pepin on Open Water!
But,,,now lake Pepin is closed, frozen. Yeah, Friday afternoon Dec. 18th,I got to Roadside Park (two miles upstream from lake City). Wind was 15 (gusting to 22 mph). I only had my "Trusty" 10.8 Loft sail and formula board with me. It was 2:00 pm and I wasn't going to sail in gusts of 22mph with a ne...

In Minnesota we "used to ski"in December now we WINDSURF in December ("Climate Chankge")
We used to go skiing in Minnesota in the month of December, now we go Windsurfing in the month of December. This is part of Climate Change and I'm just adapting. Heck, I don't need to go to South Padre Island anymore in December. I can use my own gear which is better than renting and can go sailing ...

Re: Sat. Decc. a frsoty Windsurf Sesh was fabulous with ice on sail:
Opps...some mistakes to correct. It was 35 degrees out (not 25). And when I got off the water and after de-rigging...everythink freeze dried. I did have to dry anything off. I even freeze dried! Coming up Friday,,,Dec. 18th going to be 40 degrees! Maybe another Winter Windsurf Sessh! Quetzalcoatl out.

Sat. Decc. a frsoty Windsurf Sesh was fabulous with ice on sail:
Sat. Dec. 12th I windsurf at The Hok-si-la Municipal Boat ramp (upstream of Lake City) and it was 25 degrees out. I think the water was warmer than the air temp. There no Ice on Lake Pepin. I sailed my 10.8 Loft sail and AHD (Swiss board) formula boad and I was happily planning and hooked in and fee...

Re: I DID get to get that sand off my Mistral "Stinger" 85 liter by sailing it!!!
A Correction....that guy that I bought the Mistral"Stinger" from (I like the word "Stinger") actually lives on the West shore of White Bare Lake, not East. Still wondering, "Who was that sailor?" He kept the original fin though. I had other good fitting fins anyway. Thanks. Eric F (Quetzalcoatl) out.

I DID get to get that sand off my Mistral "Stinger" 85 liter by sailing it!!!
Oh...I forgot to mention that the wind was "Howling" late Last Sunday afternoon on Waseca's Clear Lake. Thus, the wind conditions were favorable to be to step onto my Mistral Stinger 85 liter board and clean off that lake Millac's sand that was all over the footstraps from several years ago. Real wi...

"Riden the storm out"(live) on radio as I was rigging my sail (over the border)
Yeah!!! Monday, Nov. 7th, REO Speedwagon blast on radio "Riden the Storm out" (the Live in Concert version) was blasting on Car Radio which then gave me confidence to JUST go for it as a storm was moving in over Clear Lake, IA. I rigged my 6.3 Tiger and Tabou Rocket board and I sailed for a good 90 ...

Gusts over 50mph on Sun. on Spirit lake? (overkill)
Sunday Spirit lake will be blowing 25-35mph with gusts over 50!!!! On our lakes that's tricky sailing. Not hard at all on the Laguna Madre of S. Padre north Bird Island (North Padre) because your just in chest deep water. I've sailed down there with wind's close to 50 mph,,,but it's controllable, no...

Saw a Big Red Sun at sunset on Halloween while screeming across lake...
Yes: I dressed up as a winsurfer on Halloween. Clear Lake, Iowa is like stepping back in Time. People walking around the City Park and Beach. I parked and rigged across the street from "Sharky's Sunset Bar and Grill. As I was screeming across the water on my RRD Z-Ride 120 liter board and Ezzy 7.5 F...

On Halloween I will "dress up" as a Windsurfer (on the lake)...
On Halloween, I shall "Dress up" (donning the Dry Suit) as a Windsurfer this Saturday and go screaming all away across the lake!
Gonna be a "toasty" 52 degrees air temp. (Water temp. I think cooler than that).
No shorty for me! Thicker booties too!
Quetzalcoatl out.

Say Binx, You didn't leave a phone no. to reach you about that nice Dry suit. Eric. Or you can text me at 507-993-0545. I'm quite interested in it. I DO need to try it on. My old dry-suit (the famous Bare Polar Dry-suit) is a large. I think your Rodeo would work (as you say it's a 2X but that's not ...

Last Weekend (Sept. 19 and 20) offered "Endlless" wind on the Great Prairie Lakes of Southwest Minnesota. Satureday wind was cranking at steady 25 mph South wind Late Saturday afternoon on Big Spirit Lake, IA. (just 50 yards South of Minnesota border). Wow! There were six "Kite-foilers" playing in t...

Soon to be.....Ice free in Iowa!!! God I love Iowa! Big lakes, warm weather. (March 1st, this Sunday will be 63 degrees in Polk City). I'd wait just one more week though for sailing, just to be sure it's ice free! My four favorite Iowegian lakes are: Spirit Lake, (just over the boarder from Jackson,...
