a big fish story

I was kiting last month at the mouth of the white salmon river on the gorge when my board smacks a salmon jumping out of the water. Ive hit a coot on waconia (put a dent in my blue board), hit a seagull with my lines in the ocean, but a salmon? Well I did what any good minnesotan would do, I bent do...

Let the fun begin! There is just some ice on the south shore near town, so the launch site is free and easy. Had my first kite session of 2004 yesterday at the sandbar in the gorge. 70 degrees 20 kts. went on my 9.3 and it all came back after no kiting for 5 months. Talked to akiter that sail every ...

Minnesota Studs made the paper

I SAW some familiar faces in the Hood River News today. Alex and others had a great story and pics all about the red bull contest. It mentioned they found some great kite skiing in the bowls of Mt. St. Helens. What a blast that would be (no pun intended). Somebody is out kiting or surfing every day ...

Howdy gang, the gorge is being hit with the biggest blizzard in 15 years! I have 2-3 feet of fluffy white in my front yard. I left MN to get away from this. A local kiteboarder made the TV news last night kiting in a park in hood river. We have east winds 25-30 today and the temp is 12. Last year we...

got out today windsurfing on my 4.7 very gusty but the air temp hit 60 so it helped buffer the cool water. we have very few west winds in Nov so always book your vacation in july. Still have nice fall colors, the lowest temp Ive seen is 25. Alex took off for China today, doing some design work for w...

Very interesting. My last kiting session was oct 28, 70 degrees at Lyle on my 12 meter. A cold front went through the next day with 40 kt winds and the temp hasnt been above 48 since. Also east winds only. The town is empty the river is empty, the only excitement was a 15 year old learning to drive ...

An 18 year old boy drowned out here last night, body still not recovered. A group of kids were paddling out to the Island and back and he seperated from them and drowned. When you think what we do out here on 30 kt. days it s hard to believe this happens. Each day is a gift! On a lighter note... the...
