I was there...exactly one year ago in fact! Here are a couple of suggestions: Maui is not that big, so most places between Kahana and the north beaches where you windsurf and kite are drivable in an hour or so. Wailuku, nearest to Kite Beach and the windsurfing beaches are, in my humble opinion, not...

Thanks...

Hmmm...if it hits June 1 and things don't warm up I'll have to spring for a full wetsuit. All these cool temps are crazy...

Thanks for the info.

Water Temps

Hi everyone!

Just wondering if someone could give me an update on the water temps...are we still looking at full wetsuit weather, or could I make do with a shorty and/or just shorts?

Just got the new bladders in the kites and I'm ready to get back on the water...

Trapped no longer...

Freedom!! Ok...not exactly kite related, but sort of. I just took a job that does not require me to be trapped in an office. I will no longer look outside and see the wind blowing...I will be playing in the wind when it blows! Nothing to stop me from taking that three hour break to make it out to Wa...

I prefer to think of it as Brain Enhancement...there isn't any danger in thinking about kiting is there? Escaping from real life for a minute or two when you remember a great session...or maybe your real life close-call with ice cold water.

Eric - If you are heading to Maui, kite beach is an ok place to learn and get on the water. Certainly better than learning in Minnesota, but not nearly as good as S. Padre. Kite Beach is kind of small, and as you drift downwind you end up at a port, which is not a very safe place to land. So long as...

Flynhi...

Flynhi- Just wondering if you would consider the first week of may for a kiting trip? I would be willing to split the fuel costs with you, so long as it was cheaper than a flight. What are gas prices per gallon for planes these days? Do you even use MPG? Also, if John is busy you could potentially g...

May Kiting Trip

I would love to go down the first week of May! I was able to score a week off when switching jobs, so I'm free April 30th until May 7/8 for kiting. :D What were you thinking as far as logistics? I priced out flights and everything seems really spendy...it would be great to get 2/3/4/8/15 people toge...

may want to get tickets early...

I showed up yesterday for the 2:00 o'clock showing of this and was told that everything was sold out for the afternoon except "seasons." You may want to go a bit early to get tickets for this...especially on the weekend.

I had good luck on Fish lake in Duluth awhile ago. Similar conditions as well...things melted down here but they had new fresh snow in the north.

Does anyone know if there is any snow left on ML after yesterdays highs? I have some free time tomorrow and was thinking of going out.

Went out of town for the weekend and suddenly all of the snow was gone. :(

I'm definately in for going (I was planning on it anyhow). Denis I think was wanting to go as well, though I'm not sure what his schedule looks like. We were thinking slightly later april - after the 16th. We went in early May a couple of years ago and had a great time. It was windy every day, thoug...

Thanks everyone! I'll give the face thing a try and then go on to soapy water after that...I'll be sure to keep friends, family and girlfriends away when I'm "doing the face thing" to the kite.

You guys rock!

Virtual Hole in North Toro Bladder

Ok...this is something that seems weird to me (though for all I know it is normal). Since there wasn't any wind on Sat. I took out the kites and decided to do a little repair work on the two leading edge bladders of my 02 North Toro 12M and 16M. In the last couple of months I have noticed a small le...

Drew- I have a Windwing 330 foil that I'll sell to you at the clearance price of $140.00 - the kite is in good shape, and for that price you can get started and have some $ for your next kite (my purchases after this one were all larger 4 line inflatables and I flew a lot of Denis' larger foils). It...

I saw Denis and Mike B (from down under) last night right after their kite session...besides the need for a warm beverage and some spicy wings, they said it was great. I asked them the same question and they said you will definately be cold if you spend a lot of time in the water, but that when you ...

Wind in Italy

Hey All...I'm heading to Florence for a month to do a little studying. Seeing all of the coastline I thought that I'd do a little research and see what was nearby for kiteboarding. Looks like there is a lot out there, but I haven't been able to nail down anything specifically. So far my best bets se...
