Hawaiian Pro Begins

For the first time in 3 years the Professional Windsurfing Association (PWA) is holding the Hawaiian Pro at Hookipa Beach Park. Naturally winds were strong today (15-25) as rain has subsided (for now). Winds are expected to be 10-20 tommorrow as a new low pressure trough makes its way toward the isl...

Offshore Sailing

Randy,

After today I think I feel the same as you about offshore sailing in Kehei. Thank goodness there were a few other guys out there with me or it would have been a very expensive day.

Kiting In Kehei

3rd straight day of NO WIND on the North Shore. Plenty to be had in Kihei though. We moved out of Coconut Cove. My entourage' got sick of the constant rain on the North Shore. We're staying at http://www.menehuneshores.com. Beautiful 1st floor accomodations. :D 15-25 in Kehei was great for a little ...

The North Shore was blowin' 31mph. 40mph gusts against the shore break with intermitent rain showers. Liquid smoke everywhere. VERY NARLEY. Sorry, maybe next time. Kanaha beach park closed due to flooding. Rigged up just up-shore of Kite Beach with 40 or so other windsurfers. 4' - 6'rollers = AIR TI...

Off to Ho'okipa!

Ho'okipa seems to be the call for today. Inconsistant winds from the Northwest, North, Northeast have made the surf at Ho'opika white wash. No consistant curl. A couple of days of strong trades has the surf back! Strong winds forcasted for today! You heard it Biff Puss! Ho'okipa! It's my 20 year ann...

Do as I say, not as I do.

Tighe, When it comes to recommending which kite to buy you are obviously the most opinionated of anyone. You have the power of the bullypulpit and use it quite astonishingly. Slingshot, Airrush, Windwing over and over and over. We already know who sponsors your free kites. Show us the receipt of the...

Blown Away @ Kite Beach

East Northeast Trades Today @ Kite Beach 30mph!!! Not so good for a guy with a 12 and a 16 for a quiver. 7, 8, & 9m were the call. 10m's were coming in wimpering. Needless to say I've got plenty of good shots of the pro's going huge. If you can't do a 720 forward handle pass 20 feet in the air y...
