3rd straight day of NO WIND on the North Shore. Plenty to be had in Kihei though. We moved out of Coconut Cove. My entourage' got sick of the constant rain on the North Shore. We're staying at http://www.menehuneshores.com. Beautiful 1st floor accomodations.
15-25 in Kehei was great for a little 16m kiting off the shore in front of Koa Lagoon. After a few laps the gusty winds sent me for a superman . I lost my board about 150 feet upwind from where I came down. I'm renting a Cabrinha Prankster which doesn't want to float downwind very well. I spent several minutes trying to get back to the board when I realized I was right in the spot where I saw my first and only Tiger shark 3 years ago . Unable to retrieve my board and realizing the only shore downwind was Tahti, the human "rapala" made a bee-line to the shoreline. I think both Randy and I feel the same about offshore sailing .
I picked up a few techniques on how not to body drag across the coral reef. I Decided to follow one of Keen-Bob's rules to whitewater kayaking..."KEEP YOUR FEET UP AND OUT OF THE WATER". I real cool guy from Argentina brought my board back just far enough for me to swim out and get it. Unfortunately he got hammered in the reef saving my board from a world tour. He decided to let his kite go while dragging across the coral. I chased his kite downshore and out across another reef where the bar had attached itself. Bleeding profusely from the knees I decided that it would probably be a good idea to hang it up for the day. Needless to say I'm buying the beer tonight .
Ono story time Kook-brah! That wouldn't be the spot you claim you saw Mr. Tiger circling me as I leisurely dangled in the water and adjusted my foot straps last time we were shredding Kehei, would it? I still think that was a cute little perch you saw. Keep shredding and let us know how the adventures of kookamoungus proceed.
