Re: driving to south padre island for thanksgiving week

Camping at Mustang Island State Park is probably better for kiters, which is near the Packery channel and closer to town. There's tent camping along the dunes, but that can flood. They also have other camping options on higher ground. Hot showers too.

Re: Mille Lacs Thursday

Again, sorry about dripping blood on your sail. I did have my helmet on, and got smacked the clew on a blown jibe. I agree it was some of the biggest swells I've seen on Mille Lacs. Swells big enough to drop one hand and surf without any sail power. Big air of the day goes to Randy. He must have hit...

How's the ice pile on along park point?
The camera shows a huge pile near the canal.
Does the ice pile extend the entire length of park point? Wisconsin point?
Big wind Thurs and Fri.

Thanks,Tim

According to http://www.mnlakecams.com/ , 2010 ice out was April 5th, and 2009 ice out was April 24th.

Try not to fall with your feet wedged in your footstraps such that your ankles, knees or hips get badly twisted. I think my footstraps too tight, especially with booties, and have strained my hip and ankles on several occasions. I hear the trend among wave and freestyle windsurfers is to ride with l...

Looking at the satellite, I'd estimate Superior is 97.3% ice free. The duluth area was ice free a couple weeks ago, but looks like the ice moved during last weeks easternly gales.

Are you all craming everything in one car again? That was impressive.

If I go, it will most likely be the first two weeks of April.

Have a great trip.

Re: Camping on or near Lake Minnetonka??

Three Rivers Parks has a couple campgrounds in the west metro, which are probably packed this weekend.

http://www.threeriversparks.org/activities/camping.aspx

The nearest campgrounds are Baker Park Reserve Campground and Lake Auburn Campground at Carver Park Reserve.

Maybe sleep on your boat.
