the calm before the storm...

Post by Tighe »

I expected a fresh blanket of white when I awoke this morning. I've been scanning the radar ever since watching that brightly colored blob moving closer and closer. The forecasts are now calling for even more snow...coming soon.

super stoked!!!!!

I'm stoked as well, it looks like it may be similar to the 12/11 storm. Where are you planning to ride with the NE wind?

I know this is a little "out of area" but it looks as if Lake Benton, MN is going to get really hit hard too. The wind should help build on the existing wind lips and the base, though possibly frozen, is over 30inches from the us snowcover maps on Intellicast. I have posted about the terrain before, but I will say it again, it is the best in the midwest. With the time I spent kiting the terrain up around Spirit lake, IA a few weeks ago, I think I now have the skill to really make the "Hole-In-The-Mountain" WMA terrain even more of a life changing experience than it was the first time.

I will post as soon as I can verify the conditions up there first hand. But I may not make it up for a few days at least.

was thinking of WBL, but word from the lake is that it is barely covered.

I'm open for suggestions.

Just got back from WBL. I didn't see anyone with a kite on it. Little snow cover. The ice looks pretty rough near shore and almost as bad after driving out a little ways.
