Re: Lakawa Snowkite Race Series

Forecast light winds but good enough tonight. We'll see who has the skills for lighter wind management. The spectacle of kiters with whatever lights they rig shall be splendid. Saturday races in Wayzata Bay 2-5pm forecast looks good!!

Re: Lakawa Snowkite Race Series

I'm indecisive for running the race. 1. Location 2. Day: Saturday and/or Sunday 3. Adjust start time for wind Forecast better first part of the day Saturday and last part Sunday. Saturday winds locally light but useable and surface will be fast. Forecast Saturday hovering around minimum winds needed...

Re: Lakawa Snowkite Race Series

Worthington was very windy and we had 3 racers. Great for the community to support our efforts, thanks to them for the interest. Jay got a little over powered on the 6M. I put up a 4M. Nick did really well on an 8M. Challenging conditions but still quite fun. Saturday on Excelsior http://excelsiorbr...

Re: Lakawa Snowkite Race Series

Momentum:-) Last Saturday we seem to have gone without regard into the -20F temps and had a slightly larger attendance both on the course and sidelines. Impressive spirit these kiters are displaying. Will anyone catch Jon Stroh? He requested to make the course bigger, the only one I should add. Jim ...

Re: Where have all windwriters gone, gone to Facebook everyo

Indeed. A sign of the times? I too reveled in those days. I'll suggest a few things, maybe stir the pot. As for me: writing is fun but quite time consuming and my time has been allocated to my growing family as well as my own interests, my brother calls it The Selfish Bastard Club, I'm a board membe...

Re: Lakawa Snowkite Race Series

Saturday shaping up nicely with wind forecast holding and suggesting big Kites. Naturally I have a few for sale but those properly outfitted will stand the best chance for podium placement. The course will be fun to run regardless and surface should be faster this week than last. Here's a local bait...

Lakawa Snowkite Race Series

WindwardLeewardcourse.png Series of races almost weekly to a few of our 10,000 lakes throughout the Winter. Stay tuned for updates of conditions, parking, race format and results. "Race" is a little bit of a misnomer since the idea is to invite all who are able and interested to gather in...

Re: Core Kites Demo Sunday and Monday

Glad to hear of the turnout and your comment. Access is always at risk and being considerate of our riding options takes vigilance, so you're not a bad guy:-) Remarkable feedback coming in. Did you know they have 27 adjustment variations you can do to a kite? Makes sense for getting most range and f...

That was a fun day! One of many. My dealer is giving me incentives on those Pivots while inventory lasts. You got a great deal on yours and thank you for the opportunity to be your retailer. I'll run more demos here now that we're back and timing is upon us. Thanks for taking time to post!

Re: Kite Stability

I sent this inquiry out to my reps, along for their feedback. My Naish rep just responded: "Hey Mike, I think I got this one… Stability is created by balancing the “tow point” which is the imaginary point at which the bridles create pull from. Keeping that aligned with the “center effort” of th...
