Where have all the windwriters gone? gone to Facebook everyone,
When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn.
Used to be windsurfers and kiteboarders would come home and write about their Epic sessions on the water
on Lakawa. There was great prose and poetry and a proliferation of their exploits about achieving supersonic
speeds from Nuking wind and on and on. It allowed others who might have to be at work to feel the experience
through reading those great adventures! I never this see happen on the "Chat" section of Lakawa anymore.
I call for a return, a re-awakening, a Renaissance of kiteboarder/windsurfer stories. Let's do this!
Eric out.

Indeed. A sign of the times? I too reveled in those days. I'll suggest a few things, maybe stir the pot.
As for me:
writing is fun but quite time consuming and my time has been allocated to my growing family as well as my own interests, my brother calls it The Selfish Bastard Club, I'm a board member. Facebook and social options are more easy. Not the best word to throw out as it appears for us to have worked through the paces of respective learning curves, easy isn't something that appeals to our character(s).
Social media and sale of Lakawa became part of the change. Although I appreciated and enjoyed the voices and activity of the forum, becoming a webmaster and mediating spirited conversations became difficult and not my strong suit. Additionally, I didn't wish try to be the new voice, I simply prefer being one of the guys.
Certainly there is more but this offers some of my perspective. Facebook isn't really that bad and up to you how to manage it. I suggest using an alias with total bunk email. You can always peer in on it too: https://www.facebook.com/lakawamn/. Video, photo, and the joyous conversations we're referencing within are happening, right now:-) If you don't convert I applaud you.
Thanks for taking the time to bring this up.
Mike

Check out End Of Session:
http://www.endofsession.com
Tighe is still snapping, shooting, and writing his inspired posts about kiting - just in a different place.
I think this is OK to mention since he doesn't sell kites or give lessons anymore.

We're still here...just tuning in and dropping out maybe. Seems like the old crew is just quiet and kiting on...guess I'd write more, but my feeling about kiting could be summed up with this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9pN0d-r_vc
Have kite, will travel.

henjj sent me a post about the current state of kiteboarding with regards to snowkiting. Pretty much mirrors my thoughts on many levels from most of the dedicated snowkiters who took the time to share their thoughts.

Forums are dying though NWkite still seems to be going strong. But all in all, thanks for the inspiration to write more here. Good to know that there are those out there who would not laugh at me for replying to my own posts.
And this facebook thing! I think I am going to have break down and go buy one of those. I just keep hearing about them all the time. Where do I go to get one? How much does it cost for one? Are they portable enough for a guy living in a van chasing wind to use? Any resale value on em?
