It´s April and I´m in Europe. This has become a classic time for wind in Minnesota.

Cannon is open. A couple of us sailed Saturday. 4.7 was too much and too little as the wind was gusty and changing in direction.
I can't remember water that cold in all my days. Getting old is doing it; I think I'll wait a week and let it get up to 40 Degs.

Oahu - came home from Bonaire for a day and a half and flew over for a meeting, sailed the week-end caught the red eye home Sun night. Bonaire - swell like Mille Lacs 6.5. One goes out to the deeper part of the bay away from the crowds. The swell gets better near the opening to the ocean but you hav...

Bonaire, Oahu

Just got back from a weekend on Oahu after 10 days in Bonaire. I had been both places before and returned to Bonaire to do some mellow sailing on flat water as a break from my last winter trip to Arenal with Bill S. and nuclear winds. I sailed 8.5 days in Bonaire. The middle 4 days were 4.5 to 5.0, ...

My Saturday gift wasn't wrapped as beautifully as yours. I went to Cannon in the late morning. It was dark and gray but the wind was blowing from 180 degrees and it felt comfortably warm. I rigged a 5.5 and had about an hour and a half of the steadiest wind I have ever sailed. It started raining aft...

Sailing the BWCA

It might amaze you that windsurfing is illegal in the BWCA! Any form of assisted travel is included even putting up you poncho on a canoe is technically out. I have often wanted to get arrested doing this. One can't even windsurf in a 25HP motorized zone! What were they thinking?

I've had so many moments relating to progress, and continue to get them. Wed I did a planning jibe on the smallest board yet and felt that special thing again. The thing I remember most, though, is sailing at Kanaha and loosing track of how far out I had gone. On the way back to the beach I couldn't...

Green as it gets

I sailed there yesterday. It was as green as I've seen it this year. Everywhere!

Weird snail death is right! A yard wide on the beach as far as you can see. They don't smell particularly bad but I would wear booties to avoid cuts. I was there last Friday.

Around noon it was 4.5 at Izaty's where I sailed for 35 minutes by giving up lunch. Blew all day. I sailed after 5 PM but it had dropped to 6.5 by then. Great day! I had to work the rest of the time.

There's green in the water but there are no stinky slime areas. No problem for me. Greg Heymans had a good session yesterday also.

If you are looking for algae you don't have to go all the way to Clear Lake. Cannon is almost as good.

I was out at Byllesby, all alone, 7.5 nicely powered. Playing in the sunset with the water. It's filled with little tiny weeds (there's not enough in the way of nutrients there to grow those giant Waconia/WBL specimens).

I came to Byllesby right behind Pete. Sailed 4.7 for a short session on my wave board then switched to a very fully powered 5.5 until the rain came. When the wind is up, this place rocks! All that sailing on Cannon has made me forget how much Byllesby teaches you about pointing and jibing on those s...
