Forest Lake
I need a back-up plan for tomorrow. Randy or Kevin, where do you guys sail on Forest Lake. How do you get there? Are you going there? Thanks, Sid

Sid:
On south winds I like the ramps at the Green lake up by Forest Lake better than White Bear. Randy tipped me onto the lake a couple years ago. I'm not aware of launches for Forest lake.
If the wind is south and not S-SE I'll go to this Green lake which is clean, weed-free, and nice ramps. Call me at work if your heading there and let me know when. work 763-514-4855, cell 612-770-9670
Here's a blurb I posted a while back.
The lake runs N-S and has some nice sandy shallows on the north end to create good ramps. Take 35W to highway 8 east. In the town of Chisago take a right on county 24 also called old town road (there is a gas station (conneco?) on the SE intersection). Follow this a little ways (1-2 mi.) and take a right on 284 th St. If you go past 284th you'll drive by a school on your left so you've gone too far. Follow 284th til it dead ends at the lake. Park and rig on the grass to the left of the road. http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?ma ... &map.y=137

I'd say about 40 min. to downtown St. Paul. It takes me almost 30 from work (fridley) or home(shoreview).
It is not a kite friendly launch. You park at a dead end street (that maybe used to be launch to the lake). There is grassy rigging along side of road which is the right size for sails but probably not wide enough for kites.
The latest exp shows some SE at noon anyway and the launch is on NE corner of lake (down a hill) so I'm starting to think it is not the place to be today to be on sinkers if the wind stays east of south.
Tighe you should go for Ramsey at WB if your planning on kiting. If you can't break your poor outing streak there today then I'd give up. Last Wednesday it was neat seeing Judd do his acrobatics (spin around 5 times in the air). I don't love Ramsey on straight south and small boards because the ramps are more port but if it has any SE in it's fine and you kiters don't need much to launch big air.
I still may head to Cannon. Anyone else not spooked by the water?
