Old Windsurfing Mags

It's junk day in Bloomington later this week and I'm getting rid of a bunch of old windsurfing magazines. Before they go out to the recycle bin I wanted to post this in case there is someone out there collecting these. I have a lot of the American Windsurfer Magazines, Wind Tracks Magazine, and West...

Re: Mille Lac's Lake 2011 snowkite crossing?

Skico guy- First question, what part of Colorado are you from? I have some roots out there and it's always good to hear from a snowkiter. You're always welcome in this great snowkiting community. The Mille Lacs Crossing is a professionally run event with plenty of stoke. As you state, it is frustrat...

My understanding is the Crossing will be held March 4-6th so this would be a good tune up.

Re: American Snowkite Association

Tighe - Thanks for sharing. For those interested, I have checked into the ASA forums and wanted to summarize what I am hearing. It sounds like the group that met at AWSI started as an "impromptu" gathering. The ideas of starting both an American Snowkite Association (ASA) and a North Ameri...

Re: Northwest/Delta Foil Kite Carry On

I've flown a few times with my foils but always checked them as baggage. I've put them in a seperate duffle bag with my ski boots, helmet, and clothing. The weight has always been right at the limit but not a problem.
Good luck

Vote for a kiter as a Pioneer of the Greater Outdoors

When Columbia Sportswear opened their Mall of America store they were looking for people who participated in sports of "questionable judgement" for their Greater Outdoors marketing campaign. Since I'm an avid kite-skater in the summer I submitted a short video clip showing my sport. I was ...

Re: Snowkite Acces petition

Nathan - Thanks for the heads-up. There are a huge number of areas that could be affected by this issue.
We can snowkite in a safe and environmentally friendly manner and we should let our law makers know this.

I encourage all skiers and riders to join the cause.

Re: What Size Kite to Start With?

Jerlane - I echo everyone's advice on the lessons. You can't go wrong with supervised experience. Having said that, I have a 7.3 Ozone foil you can borrow to get started if you want. It worked well for me when I began kiting. It has the safety releases on the bar and is a pretty good starter kite af...

Snowkiting in Star Trib on Monday

Hey, I wanted to give everyone a heads-up. There will be a story on snowkiting in the Variety section of the Star Tribune on Monday.

It's always great to see the sport get positive coverage in the media. Whoever is responsible, THANKS

Re: Snow Kite Trip Anyone?

I just checked to see the conditions and it appears the Beartooth Highway from Red Lodge to the Wyoming state line is closed from a June 1st avalanche. The other option for getting to the Pass is thru Cooke City. That can be done two ways, thru Cody, Wyoming on the Chief Joseph Highway or thru Bozem...
