Camping on or near Lake Minnetonka??

Hey all you locals. We're heading north from Madison for a sailboat regatta on Lake Minnetonka on July 8-11. As we are a budget program I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good campsite close to or on the lake. If you are around that weekend and there is not enough wind to kite come check out some sa...

Re: cold water riding gear

This seems like a good time to ask as I've been thinking of whether to buy a dry suit or thick wet suit. Right now I ride in a 5 mil 7 year old diving wet suit, a little constricting. I was thinking of buying a baggy suit, but am worried about getting a tear in the suit, and filling up with 32 degre...

Islamoralda, FL ??

Has anyone kited at Islamoralda, FL. A few of us are thinking of a quick trip the second weekend in January. We were debating between there and Padre, but the Wind/Water temps convinced us to look into FL.

Any tips on the FL keys would be great! Thanks

Re: BVI Charter boat - any interest ?

I saw the post and had to chime in. I've done a few charters in the BVI and as far as kite launches, I don't think it is the best place. As said before there are not a lot of open beaches or really beaches at all that would be accessible for kite launching. I also spent some time working on a motor ...

Fred, The best thing about the foot straps is once you get in to them everything steady's out, and you can hold the board to the water. It is way more in control, and way more comfortable than being out of the straps. To stop the board from rounding up you first need enough wind to make it back into...

Wow, just tested out the cabrinha omega. Lot more bar pressure than the waroo which is what I'm used to.

How much bar pressure does the link have??

Thanks again!

SS Link?

Has anyone had more time on this kite?? At $699 for a kite and bar, seems like a pretty good deal, however lots of negative press. I'd like to hear what mid-west riders have to say.

Thanks :)

Northern WI

I spent last weekend in Manitowish Waters/Boulder Junction area. Snow was pretty decent on the lakes. 1'' of slush, with about 3/4 inches of nice snow on top. Forecast is for a chance of snow all weekend.

about a 4 hour drive East of the cities.

For $625 I got a new 07 bar, and basically a new 06 kite. Thats cheaper than I got my last kite 2nd ...

cheap waroo's

Check out the best website, under pre-owned gear. They are starting to post lots of 06 waroo's. All different colors and sizes. From $300-500. The kites don't come with bars, but that still seems like a pretty good deal for a cheap flat kite. I picked up a 12, can't wait for the water to freeze!

Kite Line Lifespan

after watching that winter video, seeing the huge jumps, i was wondering how often everyone replaces their kite lines. Pigtails, leaders, included. My only expierence with spectra is kiting and seeing it used as backstays on sailboats. I know its extremely strong, but I've also seen it explode (unde...
