Medicine Lake - W or WNW Winds

you guys are probably getting tired of my inquiries, but always appreciate the insight from those w/ first hand experience. So Medicine Lake ... how would it be with today's wind (launching from beach access just west of 169). I've done a pure North several times ... was good, but wondering on the h...

Medicine Lake - Anyone kited from the North locations?

Hey, was looking at the google maps inserts provided on the Lakawa sites location and noticed that the boat launch and french beach were listed as possible kite launch locations for Medicine Lake. Was wondering if anyone in the kiting community has tried these locations and can give some insight? I'...

Waconia on Tuesday?

Looking like it'll be heavy out of the south, anyone considering Waconia? Would like to be there around 3pm for my first MN water session since last fall... checking if anyone else is heading out.

Re: Seeking Advice: kite for my 11 and 9 year old daughters

Thank you all for sharing your experiences regarding selecting the right equipment for teaching our young and coming generation of kiters! After reading all the ideas in the post, I'm now leaning toward the Hydra - Leo your post was really informative and it seems to be a good kite for various venue...

Seeking Advice: kite for my 11 and 9 year old daughters

Hoping someone can lend me some advice. I have a 11 yr old daughter (about 90 lbs and 5ft tall) that's keen on learning how to kite. I've been kiting for 10 yrs, and am excited that my daughter is showing a lot of interest. She is a ski/snowboarder as well, and does quite well on the ski slopes. I'v...

Recommended Kite Destination? - Oct 21-24

Hi All, I read through the destination locations on Lakawa and it appears that both South Padre and Corpus are solid kite destinations. Right now I'm planning Corpus, but the flight situation isn't so hot into that location ($$$). However, wanted to open up the question to the forum (knowing that ma...

Seeking advice: Trainer Kites

Been mulling over the internet seeking the ideal trainer kite for the 9 and 8 year old daughters. They have flown a 1 m two line foil trainer for a couple years and I think they are ready to hit kite island this winter on some light wind days since they have had a couple season of downhill skiing. I...

Re: Found a best kite leash at Waconia 8/29

Hey Tom, Thanks for posting ... yup, that's the leash I'm missing :) I was out Fri, Sat and Sun - but didn't realize I lost it til I went again on Sunday. Appreciate you picking it up for me. I'm typically out to Wac every time there is some good wind. Will be in Duluth this weekend, so no Wac for m...

Anyone hitting Wac (even though some east in that southerly)

Was thinking about Wac today and wondering if anyone has kited her on a SSE. Will likely be heading out that way late morning.

Re: t'morrow (Sat 5/16)

Hey Jeff, I did have trouble, well, actually I didn't have a spare valve (thought I had one but after looking ... no luck). So I put some poxy on it last night. It set up but I missed one of the leaks. Who knows, poxy might not even work for a valve leak - will replace when I get a new valve. I was ...

Re: t'morrow (Sat 5/16)

What time is everyone thinking for Wac? Looks like it's already nuking and is poised to increase throughout the morning. My 8 is on the repair, what do you guys think about a 13 Waroo at 175lbs in this condition? Might be a little much?

Re: Hoy?

Was on an 8m Naish X2 C kite and was over-powered more often than not. I think it was perhaps the worst (gusty) conditions I have ever kited in but also some of the most fun regarding bump and jump. Super fun, good seeing everyone out there! Good luck if you're heading out tonight as well.

Will be heading to Wac later today (probably won't arrive until 5:15 or so). Hoping that the thunderstorms hold off - should be a good day for the 8m.
