Lake Waconia 5-9-14 Aerial video
I'm on injured reserve for the summer  so to stay around the vibe I brought the quadcopter out to try getting some video of the gang at Waconia. This is my first flight in 20+mph wind and my first editing on movie software but I think it turned out ok. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okDlG-Ebkl...

Lower Whitefish Lake Launches
I will be staying in a cabin on the SE side of lower Whitefish later this week and it looks promising for wind to get out with the kite, right now it looks like a SE wind is likely, any thoughts on a launch for that direction?

Re: Where is the Snow?
Was hoping for a better snow report, don't have enough time to do 7hrs roundtrip drive to go kiting. Oh well, just will have to wait until we get snow, or hope for an early spring and can hit the lakes again

Where is the Snow?
Looking to get out kiting tomorrow or this weekend and looking for some place relatively close to the cities to hit some snow. Lake or terrain would be fine, just need to get a kiting fix! Was thinking Mille Lacs but the webcams don't really look all that promising. Needs to be ski-able as I don't h...

Re: saturday stories
I hit a small soccer field by my house that had a crusty coating of about 1in of snow and had a great 2 hour session with my skis and 10m taboo!

Waconia Good Samaritan
After a good couple hours of riding today the wind got stronger than was prudent for me and I lost my board on a jump, after trying for what seemed like and eternity to get back to my board I just kept coming up short, bodydragging is tough work in that wind. Just when I was going to give up and jus...

Kite/board question
I am looking to add to my kite gear but have a very limited budget (don't we all), so my question is this, for Minnesota winds would a bigger board or bigger kite give me more bang for my buck? I am an advanced beginner/intermediate kiter currently riding a 143 slingshot board with a Best Kahoona 11...

Re: Lake Pepin Open???
Flew over Cannon on way into town this morning and it looked to be about 90% or more open water. Way to cold for me to think about going, but have fun!!

Flew out of Minneapolis earlier today and the ice on all local lakes was deep black in color and didn't look all that good

Re: Stayin Local This Wknd?
I have to stay local as well tomorrow, anyone going to be out at Mtka tomorrow? I am thinking late morning early afternoon. I would do medicine but it sounds really slushy, but may be able to be talked into going there if anyone is going there.

Re: Lake Pepin Open???
I flew over Pepin a couple days ago and saw no trucks on the ice and only one small area about the size of a football field of open water.

I am going to Cancun with my family and staying at an all-lnclusive in the hotel zone, I am hoping to get in a day or two of kiting. I will not be able to bring gear so will need to be able to rent, and hoping to not have to rent a car. Any suggestions of a place to go that's close by and any experi...

Re: Snow Coverage?
I headed west today and hit Belle lake just south of Washington and north of Hutch. Lake was 99% snow covered. Hutch got 3 inches of snow yesterday which is stuck to the ice by the rain that came first and the light rain after the snow. There was a distinct line about 10 miles of east of Hutch where...

I agree with lee uptown, I went to SPI in the fall for 4 days, 3 were rideable and I scored 6 hours each day of riding and went from being able to get up and ride but not stay upwind to being confident in riding and transitions some toe side turns, and even some baby jumping. I spent all summer chas...

Re: Web cams at the lakes
If you have an iPad/iPhone the aeroweather app is a good one for current conditions at any airport in the country and also for some airports includes a forecast. With all the airports there is bound to be one near your favorite kiting site! Also for those of you with a cell phone you can hear the la...
