Looking to get out kiting tomorrow or this weekend and looking for some place relatively close to the cities to hit some snow. Lake or terrain would be fine, just need to get a kiting fix! Was thinking Mille Lacs but the webcams don't really look all that promising. Needs to be ski-able as I don't have a switchblade.
Thanks and happy kiting!

Re: Where is the Snow?
The best snow is 3.5-4 hours away. Gile, WI has 20" plus. Lake Vermilion has over a foot of new Pow. Kabatogama has lots of snow and fresh Pow. Anywhere short of these areas is spotty snow and the lakes are ice/snow mix. I may head way up North for the best snow. Still trying to figure out the best plan.
Update: May try Island Lake or Rice lake just North of Duluth Friday afternoon if they get enough fresh snow Friday night. Only a 2.5 hr drive. The winds still look light for Saturday.

Re: Where is the Snow?
Was hoping for a better snow report, don't have enough time to do 7hrs roundtrip drive to go kiting. Oh well, just will have to wait until we get snow, or hope for an early spring and can hit the lakes again

Re: Where is the Snow?
I was considering Island Lake area too. Same concerns though of wondering about coverage. Thanks for outlying area reports Mike.
