Northern Wi. This Wknd?

Anyone aware of any good ice left in Wis. Looks like Sturgeon Lake is a bit too much of a drive for me. How about the Shell Lake guys...any reports? How about up by Siren? Saturday's wind is looking good all across Northern Wi. Please drop me a note.

Thanks,
Scott

2 fantastic days in a row on the ice

Absolutely great days still available on the ice! Was out 4 hours Tuesday afternoon on Lake Wissota in Chippewa Falls, at least 14" of ice (quit auguring and went kiting), lots of water on top of the ice until about 300yds out then firm and dry. Yesterday mid day for 5 hours or so on the lakes ...

Re: Broken bar 2013 Ozone Summit

Can't even imagine how in the world that could happen. You might contact the store you bought it from and see if they will honor some kind of warranty, or if that doesn't work, try contacting Ozone and see what they might be able to do for you.

Good Luck

Re: 25th Annual Sturgeon Stampede, Feb. 7-9

Hoping against hope that I can make it down this year! How are the conditions on the lake? Approx how far is the kiting area from the FDL Mall? Any hotel recommendations?

Thanks,
Scott

first time on snowboard

Hello all, Been kiting on skis for several years...saw the post on skis vs boards and going to give boarding a try tomorrow. Looks like the wind will support either of my kites, a 9 or a 14. Question is whether rigging one or the other would give me a better shot at a successful first day out, and h...

Re: Sat in Wisc?

What a great day! Six riders Denis, Eric, Mike, Chad, Bill, and myself. Great conditions with plenty of snow that didn't really even get sticky till late in the day. Thanks for the Brats Chad, and the awesome cookies Bill. Nice Video Denis, I too like to hear a little bit of the snow and wind mixed ...

Finally Got Out On Wissota

Just about ready to give up for the season...but was lured out to Lake Wissota yesterday. Two of us out in almost perfect first time of the year winds...a pretty steady and smooth 14 or so. Ice around the shoreline was about 12 inches, sure it was less out in the middle. No vehicles on the big lake ...

Card Game Sat Night At Crossing?

Anyone interested in a Holdem tournament and or cash game Saturday night in Garrison? Thinking about perhaps a $20 buy in tourney, 100% payout to the top 3 or 4 players depending on #of entries. Will be staying at the Garrison Inn Sat night, could possibly play in the lobby, or breakfast area. Pleas...

Extendo-bar?!?

So apparently spreader bars shrink over time...I remember the beggining of last season having a bit of a struggle getting my harness secured, but this season it seems to have shrunk even more  !! I believe it is a 12" bar,...are there any longer bars out there that a guy could use untill ...

Re: Looking for Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls Area Kiters!

Hello Matt, There are a couple of us that kite on Wissota in the winter...have not done much in the summer here though. Would be good to have someone else around to get fired up with. Need to do some searching for reasonable launch spots etc... There were a two other kiters I met a couple winters ag...

Re: Is Winter Over???

Kited yesterday on Lake Wissota...had to walk through about 35 feet of 8" deep water over ice to get out to the dry stuff, and then most of it was only dry for a while. Center of the lake held up pretty well until I left at about 1. It started raining at about 1:30. Got some great speed runs in...

Re: Bayfield/Madeline Is. Kiteboarding Weekend

Hello Pete, We are re-thinking South Twin...might stay close to town Thur, Fri nights, then see about a site on Stockton Sat night. I'm almost embarrassed to say we will be in power boats. How about you? Throwing up a kite in front of your kayak?!? Rocky is a long haul. I can't find your #...mine is...

Re: Bayfield/Madeline Is. Kiteboarding Weekend

I have tentative plans to be in that area that Fri, Sat, Sun, too. Was planning to camp out on South Twin Island. I hear Long Island is an awesome location for kiting. Have not heard anything about an event, but it sure would be great to get a bunch together. Anyone have good local knowledge of kiti...

Re: Kites as the Future of Renewable Energy

That is really amazing stuff!! I am pretty excited about it, although as a pilot I must admit to a little apprehension of having kites scattered across the country at thousands of feet. I'm sure for the most part the industrial versions would be grouped together and well marked on aviation charts, b...

Re: Kites as the Future of Renewable Energy

Very Cool !! What I didn't see was how the flying kite was able to convert its motion into usable electiricity. Were they using blades on the leading edge, or some form of back and forth pulling mechanism on the ground, or...?
