Re: Mille lacs challenge/crossing

Crossing is only a windsurfer event this year. Mike said kiters are welcome to come and ride and he may set up an informal course if people want to do a long distance race, but there are no formal events for kiters as in years past. They made a change due to a points issue with the Mowind rules/insu...

Re: Medicine Lake - Anyone kited from the North locations?

Kited there yesterday with my buddy Ryan. Had a great session. Wind set up perfectly coming down the lake. not many people there with the beach being closed, so pretty easy launch/land. Have to work today, but Ryan said he might be out there again today. Nice and shallow too and not much weed action...

Mille lacs challenge/crossing

Have there been any dates set for the Mille lacs challenge this fall? I'd love to organize my calendar so that I can actually make it there this year.

Re: Mitts Found at Waconia Saturday 5-01.

I think they may be mine, although I can't remember the brand of them. They are black and fairly new with a wrap around strap on the wrist. I think they are NRS mitts or something.
Let me know if that's what you found and I'll meet you somewhere near your place.
Thanks!

Re: overweight

Reds, I fly american all the time, and if you look on their website under baggage regulations, there is no additional charge for "kiteboarding" equipment as long as you are within the weight limits. Even if it is in a "Golf" bag. If I were you, I would complain to AA and get your...

Hey Dave,
I think I have your pump.
Was it a black Best pump?
I thought I grabbed mine, but somehow I ended up with 2 when I unloaded my gear back home.

Are you guys riding in dry suits still at Duluth, or would a 3/2 wetsuit suffice? with booties, hood and mitts?

I've been walking on water most of the summer on lake Harriet, Calhoun and Cedar. Most people on the beach are calling it my "Jesus" board.

Re: Saylorville DAM JAM May 16-18 2008

There will be kiters from Des Moines there also. there are plenty of places to kite either at saylorville or big creek (which connects with saylorville). Michelle, you will be plenty warm in a 7mm wetsuit. the temps are supposed to be in the low 70's. I was in a 3/2 wet suit over 3 weeks ago at big ...

Iowa kite fest....

Hey all, If you haven't heard, the Saylorville Dam Jam is taking place the weekend of May 16-18. It is designed as a windsurfing competition, but I was thinking if the conditions warrant, we have a kite fest in conjunction with the Dam Jam. Saylorville lake is a great place to kite with friendly lau...

Crested Butte

Anyone ever kite at Crested Butte/Gunnison, Colorado? I am heading there in a few days and was thinking of taking the ol' kites. According to nordic maps Ive seen, it looks like there would be some good, wide open areas to kite just outside of the town of Crested Butte. I have also heard that the re...

Kiter friendly jackets

I recall seeing winter jackets that were kiter friendly a few years ago (slit in the middle to accomodate spreader bar.)
Anyone know where I could find jackets like this? Or any suggestions for kiter friendly winter ski coats?

This sounds like a great event. Will discussions on planning/prep/fundraising continue on the forum? I would love to stay in the loop and help in any way possible. My company would be able to make a small donation also to help.

Pete's has showers, etc. It is a bonafide campground about 1/4 mile from Malmo. (very close). Don't know if the activities will be closer to Garrison, but it is a nice place to camp.
go to petesretreat.com to check it out.
They close for the season on monday i believe.

There is a small group of us Iowans camping at Pete's retreat near Malmo. We are bringing instruments, so should be a good time.
