If you haven't heard, the Saylorville Dam Jam is taking place the weekend of May 16-18. It is designed as a windsurfing competition, but I was thinking if the conditions warrant, we have a kite fest in conjunction with the Dam Jam. Saylorville lake is a great place to kite with friendly launches as long as it isn't flooded. So far this year it is looking promising. We can have a "gathering" like event like we had in Mille Lacs.
The Dam Jam events are a lot of fun and this year they expanded to include a band and BBQ party. They are offering a non-participant registration which includes meals and a t-shirt, or you can pay for meals individually or just come down and hang with the crew.
There is plenty of space for both windsurfers and kiters to play together nicely and we have some good, safe launches for kiters in most wind directions. There's a good shallow area also for newbies.
I will keep up with the conditions and post more as the date nears. You can go to the Dam Jam post to get more info on the activities and lodging. There is a campground that is pretty much beach side so you wouldn't have to drive anywhere to kite. Just get up, drink your coffee, launch and ride.

Hope to see you down here.
