End of Season Get Together
Our water season is slowly winding down, and Randy J and I thought it would be a good time to have a get together, shoot the sh%t, share some stories and some media, whatever. It'd also be a good time to recognize some riders for achievements, for efforts, for contributions, for whatever. Here's some ideas we had:
Slideshow/video presentations (we've got an LCD projector). Have some fun with the editing and put together a nice 5 minute clip. Maybe we could do Kiters Academy Awards
Open Mic-share your stories, your kitemares, your most intense wind Frenzy, your most elaborate effort to get to the lake, whatever. Let's keep them to 3 minutes.
Any ideas welcome.
It will be BYOB and snacks. Randy has a spot in St. Paul reserved already.
Date; Nov. 13th. 7 til whenever.
let us know your thoughts

I'M SAVING MY PENNIES FOR A "40" & A BAG OF CHIPS! RJ used to do this at the end of WS season, & it was always lots of fun. Besides, I'm way behind on collecting my annual quota of hugs from all the "KITECHIX" out there!

I am DOWN!
I always love getting together with everybody and bouncing ideas off each other while tellin stories.
Plus, i think this could really help get the stoke going for the highly anticipated SNOW season!
I hope that I am not the only rookie that will be there.

Re: End of Season Get Together
Just a little info on the location of the change of season gathering:
The address is 308 Prince Street, Suite 160, in St. Paul’s Lowertown (by the Farmer’s Market). It’s the corner of Broadway and Prince in the Northern Warehouse building. Enter the Prince Street (West) entrance, go to Zen Center, turn left and go to end of hall.
Typically we’ve been obligated by some commercial enterprise in finding a place to gather. This space should serve us well so you can bring your own stuff and we can operate without public intrusion. If it does get tight the Black Dog would gladly receive us.
It’s open to all passionate about windsport. I think the recent thread “Re: Monday at Ramsey” captures the stoke Tighe and I were talking about…just a time to be out of the wind’s temptation, exchanging thoughts on our next challenge, most recent or significant ‘learning’, and hopefully sharing some of the talented photo/video that’s been put up. It’d be great to recognize riders for various attributes, so hopefully you could come with thoughts on ‘most improved rider’, ‘most outrageous rider’, ‘congeniality’, ‘never miss a windy day rider’, ‘just missed the wind rider’, ‘style’, ‘attitude’, etc.
As Tighe said, we’ve got an LCD, viewing screen and PA, so we’re set for a different sort of expression session and hoping you’ve got something to share. Feel free to post questions or suggestions…it’s just a week away.

Re: End of Season Get Together
you know what would be fun is to bring along the season's best posts from Lakawa to be read aloud.
Maybe everybody should print one out, and bring them and put them in a pile to be read randomly, and perhaps anonymously.

Re: End of Season Get Together
Just a couple other logistic points:
The Prince Street door locks at 8pm, so if you find it locked, simply go to the Broadway entrance and go through Black Dog coffee shop, turn right to Zen Center and then left to end of hall, suite 160. Meter parking is free at night, and if there are no spaces, there's a parking lot just down Prince St.
There's contract parking and $1 evening parking. I've never seen a tow truck pulling a car from the lot, however. Any questions, give me a call: 612-590-0970.
If you're bringing video, we should be good if you bring a media stick or DVD.
Looking forward to it.

Re: End of Season Get Together
Is this just for the kiters? I know cameraman Dave (Don't know his last name) mentioned a party Michael Fox will be hosting... Not sure if this is it?

Re: End of Season Get Together
No, this is different from Mike's Fleet 8 get together. It's an opportunity for all passionate in windsport to just come together and reflect the past season, share some insights, short home made vids, stoke on heading to Padre, returning from Padre or where ever. As you can probably tell, the Minnesota community has been exceptional in the bigger 'belonging' concept, so there should be a mix of kiters and windsurfers.
