Gorge Trip

Post by Scuba Center »

Just had a great stint at the Gorge July 5-10. 4.2 sail Sat thru Tues. Sailed one day with AP at the sand bar trying to coax him up to Wells island but a tad to much wind for his 10. Got to watch him do some incredible acrobatics including boosting over the top of us while standing on the sand bar which by the way was the biggest I have ever seen. Jim Arnold took some great video of AP perfecting his style. Sailed Rowena, Dougs, and stuck my toe in at Swell. No wind on Wed so we biked the historic highway to Mosier. Did not bump into Spotke but heard he had a great day at Dougs. I bumped into Steve Kenny at the event site and at Rowena. It turned out to be an expensive trip for Steve as he had to replace his transmission before the trek back home. Ran into Randy Johnson at Windwings chatting with the infamous Bart the weather man. He had just arrived in town after stopping for a sail at 3 mile. Unfortanately I was on my way out of town. Would have loved to had a chance to sail with Randy. Hood River is looking great with quite a few new places to eat and spend your money. Sounds as if quite a crew headed out in the near future. Wishing you great winds and smooth swells.
By the way we left you plenty of river to carve on and if you run into Spotke give him my best.

Hey Larry, sorry I missed you. I've been hanging with Judd and Dianne, Randy, Mike and Brian, Jim O. Man these folks can sail. We've been spending the evenings at Tucker Park. Today looks good and tomorrow better. I think J and D are headed back early next week.

I haven't got a chance to try out the new Airush Fusion 167cm yet. I left it at home along with my 16M kite. Looking forward to a Mille Lacs kite session when I get back.

later,
