South Padre
This has been a no windsurf summer for me with rotator cuff surgery in late May and rehab through August. I'm planning a trip in Sept or October and I am thinking about S. Padre. Is this a good time to go? Does any one know Teran's e-mail address? Is he still there?

SOUTH PADRE IS A COOL PLACE TO SAIL. I WOULD NOT RECOMEND GOINGIN SEPTEMBER AT ALL, THE WIND IS LACKING,VERY HOT AND FLAT. THE WIND USUALLY PICKS UP IN THE MID OCTOBER. I FEEL THE BEST WINDS ARE IN THE SPRING. HOWEVER I HAVE HAD KILLER DAYS IN EVERY MONTH, ONE CAN NEVER TELL WHAT MOMNATURE HAS IN STORE FOR US. A FEW SEPTEMBERSAGO I SAILED IN 40 PLUS, TROPICAL STORMS RULE. THERE IS ONE ABOUT TO HIT THERE NOW, SO I'M TOLD.
Hi Steve, et al. My computer sitch is hit and miss. Tried a reply a long time ago but it didn't work. If I were you Steve, I'd see a good physical therapist after your surgery and get a good personal trainer to work you through the rehab process prolong your recovery/rebuilding process as long as possible in order to strengthen the muscles which support the shoulder joint. Do not windsurf until your shoulder is past 90% of pre-op strength if you want the repair to last long term. With that in mind, wait until mid-late Oct-Nov in order to also capitalize on the stronger winds of the fall. I do not agree with Ben re: spring being windier because we get a hell of a lot of "Northers" in the late fall to winter here where windsurfing in a warm wet/dry suit is the bomb. Very scant few people are here to take advantage of these killer conds. and you'll have the island almost all to yourself. Clearly, the spring sailing/kiting season here also rocks hard! It just so happens that we get more people because of the warmer weather and the "mud" season of Colo has begun shagging their veteran ski industry vets this way to windsurf. Also, I run a very well equipped gym on the island for your off-day training. Hurricane Claudia has been a close call but alas we have been granted reprieve and will get nothing but some delicious wind and possibly some rain out of the deal. Over and out, (T) Teran Hughes.
