Best Launch for White Bear on a West Wind?

Post by Fred MPL »

Looking to sail WB tomorrow, potentially. I typically sail this lake on a S SE wind. How is it with a W wind? Is Belaire the launch of choice for a W wind?

Lastly, I live in Stillwater. Is Waconia worth the drive on a W wind?

Thanks

Wack is totally worth the drive for big Westerlies. The wind will be at least 1/2 meter or more stronger. If you have the time I'd do the drive.

With that said, Bellaire is a nice spot to ride the Westies on White Bear. Nice grass rigging out of the wind with a side shore direction. If you want more bump and jump launch out of Mahtomedi Beach - the wind is onshore and has a much longer fetch to build up some waves.
