Rain and all, yesterday early evening was fantastic on Medicine. A total of five sailors were tearing it up on the Lake o' Weeds. I was on a Mistral Echo 138 ltr and 6.6 Loft O2 and fully powered up for a solid hour. Winds got a little flukey around 7:15. Seemed to come back up a bit around 8:00, but I was already on my way home for some much needed rest.
Once again, when the wind is dead-on NW, Medicine Lake is one of the finest for outstanding swell riding and bump & jump sailing. But, you gotta have a weed fin
You launch on the SE side. There is a park there and some nice grassy rigging areas. The park is on a frontage road on the West side of 169. You can see it from the hwy.
Lake O' weed was definitly going off yesterday. Sailed a 6.5 on a 120 liter from 6pm - 8pm with a beautiful sunset. No weed fin so it was difficult until I got out about 200-250 yards. then the sailing was fun! Big troughs to ride through and lots 'o gusts to crank up the speed. Always nice to see other sailors on the water.
