Nancys got the day off and is out on the lake windsurfing.I'm in the office working. It's lunchtime so I could justify a quick look @ lakawa, just in case anyone was going to bust my butt.

The Waconia system that Jim Miller developed is in Current conditions on the wind page...to avoid confusion I labeled the link "History". (oops just realized I didn't give the right target for that link...will fix)

The Wunderground pages also have a Historical function if you scroll down a bit.

Also there is the Hourly Data Link in the current wind page.

this is the one I use nice map and easy to read graphs. they take their readings from NWS and seames to update every 15min or so

I rode waconia for 2 hours. the wind was flukey the whole time. I packed up and headed out to check on the boat as I was driving through mound I saw that mtka was going off so I rode there for about a half hour. powered to the gills the whole time on a 9 CB and a 125 but it was gusty as hell and some storms started to roll in. so I got off the water.
I was amazed how well that bow handled in those gusts.... I would have killed myself on a C.

all in all a great day sory you mised it Tom. when in doubt call this # 320.634.5660..... if you like what you here go to the wack :D

Just wanted to thank everyone for all the help today at WBL! It was my first time kiteboarding at the Bear (was able to go upwind in Padre this year and that helped a ton). After initially not having enough air in my LE (I will learn, I swear) the second time out was good. I rode out and back a few times and it was so fun! I was quite overpowered at times on my 12 M Waroo and in "survival mode" for a lot of it, but great times none the less! I even made it back to the beach area and walked the kite in.

Thanks to Randy J and Dave for the launches and Tom G for the catch at th end. Excellent to see everyone there and meet new faces.

Great times and I am so glad I got a quick session in and even made it home before the rain. Awesome

Man that came out of nowhere. The forecast as I checked it this morning was at most 16 SSE.

BTW, TomG did not miss out in the least. He rode his 16 (he almost got a ticket for unauthorized kite sizing) and was able to hold it down I do not know how.

I got off work around 3:00 or so and had nothing else to do besides head to the Rammer where I found it was cranking SE, perfect direction for that location.

It was varied. Tighe let me demo the 9m Link, which I was powered on about 3/4 of the time, the other part I was just kind of working it. That's MN wind I guess. Later it seemed to even out a bit more. Thanks Tighe for letting me ride the T2. Man, that kite is all about getting sick, huge air, and it's about low end grunt.

Good to see everybody enjoying the day.

yea stroh I went to WBL it looked to be best for the wind direction. I think I was correct.

Gary was there when I got there. It wasn't to crankin so I threw up the 16. When I got out there it picked up. was fun though. I don't seem to mind riding overpowered. I think it's norm to me used to the 2 line stuff and all.
Coach was going off.

well off to work good day guys.

Fixed it...

Post by Jim Miller »

Thanks for the "History" link Tighe! I didn't see this post for until a couple days ago. When I followed the the "history" link in the Lakawa frameset I noticed a bug that essentially disabled the secondary y-axis of the wind charts. You'd only see this problem if you were displaying at 1152x864 or less. Anyway, I fixed it, and for those that have a moderate or low resolution display, it's safe to go back in the water at "Waconia."
