Kiting at St. Thomas USVI

Post by pongratz »

Hello all,

I will be going to ST. Thomas (island) this spring. I will be doing some SCUBA diving but I would like to get some kiting in as well. Has anyone ever kited there or know someone who has? I am wondering about things like: locations, gear rental, local instructor / guide…etc.

I have my own gear but don’t know if it is better to bring mine or rent there.

Thanks!

Troy

I was down there a few years ago. Most of the Virgin Islands are volcanic and have their beaches on backside of them, relative to the wind. The windward side is usually rock lined. We spent most of our time in the BVI so St. Thomas may be different.

Virgin Gorda has some decent spots near Necker Island. I think Real Kiteboarding has a spot down there now. A spot I wasn't able to check out was Anagada Island. It is a island that started as a reef so it is low and has a beach all the way around it. Looks like a great scuba spot too. Might be worth checking out.

have fun
