Yeah, should be a great weekend for instruction as well. Those of you looking to get a jump on riding, or take it to the next level, shoot us an email at fly@lakawa.com. Should be a great weekend opener.

Milly might be ridable. There are patches of bare ice out there, but they will be rough at least after the rain we got. I'd guess 90% coverage of snow with a good bond to the ice. Hey Terry, could you go out and scoop the big lake for us? Is the surface ridable, or just rough.

Cedar is some snow ( thin) with ice with a melted snow soft texture, skis edge fine but I think a board would be interesting. It's rideable enough that I would not bother going up north for a fix and just stay home .But it's not perfect.
We're supposed to get some snow Friday so I'll update if the snow comes.

I was out on Wahkon bay yesterday afternoon. There are large patches of bumpy but very slippery ice that would be difficult to edge even in skiis. Eric is right though, 90% has well bonded snow but not much depth --- 1/2' -1" It should be good for fast rides but not much padding on the landings. I'll check again this afternoon or early tomorrow. Temps now are mid 30's and the snow is soft. If it freezes up tonight it could be pretty hard tomorrow.

We got rain at Mille Lacs too. There's still snow in the yard but I haven't checked the lake yet. I'll check it this morning and post again later.

The U.P. got rain last night also. I just sharpened my skis and checked the switchblade. I'm hoping there's no standing water on Cedar lake tomorrow. I was still getting a good edge with skis on the pebbly ice a couple of days ago. Will see what Steve reports this afternoon/evening.

warren, mn great snow

Post by MikeM »

I was at lake of the woods this week and the best snow I seen was near warren mn. Fields are 100% covered, no dirt, ditches are full, most fields are un tracked(snowmachines). It looked awsome for kiting.
let me know if anyone wants more info.

Cedar is textured ice, I took a ski out and tested the edging, no doubt we'll be able to hold just fine.Pete it's very similar to when you were here Tuesday.
They've changed the wind to SW which is a great direction for here, snows pushed out to Sunday so who knows.
Saturdays going to be a fast day so maybe set some speed records.
If any one wants an update you can call me at 715 248 7643. If I don't answer I'm out on the lake.

Steve,

Sounds great! I plan on making it out there both days.
