SS Ranger bar the same as TD bar?

Post by mdh01 »

I recently purchased a Slingshot Ranger foil. Is the bar that comes with this kite the same as the Turbo Diesel bar?

It's a nice bar and I'm thinking it would work well with my Waroo's as well?

The bar itself is the same. There is a strap between the outside inside lines above the bar that is different ( could make an good relaunch aid), and the lines are 20m (I think) so those would be quite shorter.

I don't know how the Waroo is see up for line lengths so can't tell you if it would work or not. Some kites come set up with differing front and rear line lengths to geometries of their kite or their bridle.

I'd lay the bar and lines of each out and compare them at different throws of the bar along the chicken loop.

good luck and enjoy that Ranger.

THe ranger bar is great. I set up two bars from old parts and stuff to look just like that. Then I put it on a new 07 waroo 9M and it worked great.

The trick with the line lenght is this. Hook up allthe line ends on something hard with a biner or something. Make sure all the line lenghts are the same when you have the sheet system totally out (bar is completely powered) and the bar is all the way down (completely powered). This is how most kites are set up from the factory, at least the North and best kites are. over time lines will streach, especially the front ones, and you may need to change your setup on the kite to compensate.

waroo size ?

Post by RobH »

I use the SS bars on the waroo's, when I picked up the ranger proto types I recieved a couple different size bars. I was told that the rangers will all use the same standard length bar.

The standard bar works well with the 14 waroo but I prefer the longer bar for the 16m. We also tried the standard bar on the 9m Waroo and found that we felt that it was to long and made the kite much more touchy and difficult to fly - could have just been our inexperience with the kite, however the 45m best bar is allot shorter than the standard ranger bar. We have also flown with different line lengths and all is fine

Hope this helps

Midwest Mountaineering had quite a few. They were going fast last I heard. Shoot Peter Noren a line and see what's left pnoren@midwestmtn.com
