La Crosse Launches

Post by Tetley »

I am heading down to La Crosse on Wednesday despite the apparent ‘windlessness’. Anyone familiar with any good windsurfing spots that far down the Mighty Miss.? If the forecast continues to withdraw I would still like to check out the area for future reference since I’m now committed to making the journey. Any ideas?

Lake Onalaska via French Island (near airport) check out a map. There is a sailing (boat) club at the northern tip of French. Never sailed there though.

South of town on the WI side of the river about 10 miles. little town of Stoddard. I have spent several days there during the winter (inlaws live in Lacrosse) on the river with the kite and snowboard.

Let me know if you find water to play on!

The location north of the airport has possibilities; but probably just for winds W-N. There is a sailing club located on the point with a full range of boats.

The adjacent park has a nice grassy area for rigging and plenty of parking. There is a small access thru the trees to the lake with some weeds to deal with, but it appears to be no different than what the sailing club is working around. Let us know if you give it a try.
