I wasn't able to make it to Worthington because of work. Actually I didn't get out to sail at all during the weekend due to work.
I saw that Saturday had some strong winds. Did the strong winds come with storms or were they able to do some racing?

It was great to see faces from far away, Woody and Co. from Canada. Larry and the crew from S. Iowa, Gary from south Iowa, who had joined us at the end of the snow season on Cannon. Jesse and Casey were super stylin' under the line. Clearly you guys have been riding a lot.
The best smiles of the weekend were from a local. A man I've grown to know each year of the event. Albert's smile is as genuine and as warm as they come.
thanks Worthington.

What can I say about Worthington? LOTS!!!!
Lots of windsurfers, friendy people, great tunes, smoking winds, great racing action, great food, lots of ice cold pints, fun nights, lots of laughs, some sunburn, and a superbly run event!! Just a great vibe goin' on all weekend!! The 12 hour drive back to Canada for us, was a great time for reflection and appreciation of our time with friends!
To anyone who hasn't made this event yet, make it a point to attend in 2006. Actually, Fleet 8 has more events planned for 2005, and the same great times will be happening again for those. Check em out!! Next up: Challenge Cup on Mille Lacs - June 25,26.

How Was Worthington?
Saturday morning Kevin Jewitt gave a racing clinic. Racing was delayed Saturday due to rain, but there were two course races Sat. before lunch. Saturday's wind's at 11 am were about 11 mph and built to 18-20 mph in the mid afternoon. A lot of racer's, including me, sat out the afternoon races on Saturday because we didn't bring small enough sails. Other's got in some good course races followed by slalom racing. After the racing quite a few shortboards & sinkers were blasting back and forth in the 18-20 with gusts to 25 mph winds (After I found a 5.0 for sale I got to join in the blasting on an X-186.) Sunday morning and early afternoon was very light with no racing. We almost got one race started about 1:30 pm Sunday but that was called off due to inconsistent winds. Then racing was cancelled. Then a few minutes later the wind came in around 10 mph with a lot of free sailing for the next hour plus.
The used gear sales were good for me, bought a 94 Bic Bamba (33 lbs, 370 cm course race board) a Hot Sails Maui 5.0, a Nautix 200-240 cm boom with harness lines, and an old Weichart 485 cm aluminum mast for a total of $111.
I thought the best part of the Unvarnished Music Festival was the highly energetic, Andre Marimba Band. The rest was quite listenable too. The food provided was good, the rain we had didn't bother my tent camping, there were racers from Ontario, Manitoba, North Dakota, Nebraska, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota that I know of, plus Roger Jackson teacher extraordinare from Florida, and even though my racing results were bad I had a great time.
