What are people bringing to the swap this year?

Post by thewavebb »

I was wondering if you guys wouldn't mind giving a little insight to what your bringing to the swap this year. NO prices needed just what your bringin. I am in the market for some new sails and was just curious as to what kind of bounty i will be able to pick up.

I am bringing two boards
- 1998 mistral superlight II
- Oldschool Mistral Competition longboard

You might get more if the wife and kid stay as a set.

If I'm going to get your wife at the swap, how long will she last? Has she had any dings and have you made any repairs to her? What size mast should I use with this wife?

I have not had her out of the bag in so long I am unsure of her current conditon.
...and if you need a mast, I'll throw in mine, I don't use it anymore.

Ok, this is a real test of my moderator roll. Be careful guys, while humorous to some, I also can see how some may be offended by this.

This is the most graphic, vulgar material I have seen since the demise of the Slingsluts!! Tighe, please run these guys out of town.

Tighe - take off your moderator hat and laugh a little.

Make sure to take care of YOU first... Come on, sad clown. Take a great big dive into lake "me".

Just remember, gosh darnit, people love you.

(and we'll try to tone down the ocassionally phallic, partner-swapping, nature of the humor...)

So... What else are people bringing to the swap this year? And by the way, when/where is it? I've never gone (only my second year in the sport), but it intrigues me.

OPW's

Post by Jim N »

I'd be happy to volunteer to bring any OPW's(other people's wives) to the swap. Any swapping that occurs after that is out of my hands! Which begs the question,"Is it bored housewives, or board housewives?" Ask the closest wind-surf widow! J.N. P.S. Buy my TIGA 288, my Rushwind kiteboard, or my delta winged kite.

I'm not sure of people's reluctance to list the items they may be bringing but you can be assured that if you get there early enough that there will be some good deals, some bad deals and a lot of stuff you want and a lot of stuff you don't want. Either way it is a fun morning.

I'm not sure if people are reluctant as much as they just don't know yet.

As in swaps past, I will usually rummage through my garage the morning of the swap, load up with everything I want to (or think I can) get rid of, and then scurry off to the swap to see what happens.

Tighe is right - get there early... Like, really early. The best stuff goes from *before* the swap 'officially' starts until about 10 or 11. Some people trickle in with good stuff later on, but the desperate ones with good gear always seem to be there early.

Remember folks, it's a swap. 'Price to sell'. It's better off in someone else's hands than depreciating in your garage for another year. :-)

I just stopped in there today to check the place out. Nice people. Hopefully I'll be able to come to the swap. I really want to be there to, if nothing else, show people what I have and get some opinions.
Here's a question: What happens if it's windy the day of the swap? Will people really prioritize the swap above wind? I hope I'm not jinxing it.

it is typically windy the day of the swap. But as Coach said the best stuff goes early. I've been there and hour early and the lot was filling up quickly. Plenty of time to head to the lake and try out your new stuff.
