Snow or Water this Weekend

Post by ChristianS. »

Does any of you guys know how far North to go for good snow kiting or how far South to go for good water kiting this coming long week end?
I am located in Hudson just east of the Twin Cities.

Christian, if there is any wind soon, Cannon in Faribault still has a bunch of snow. Mille Lacs and Sturgeon Lake both still have snow. Mille Lacs is definitely a better spot though.

Some of the guys from Iowa have been on the H20 already near Des Moines. Look through the posts from the last coupld of weeks to find out more about that.

Wow, that surprises me. I am there for a kiting session as soon as we get a warm day with decent wind.

Ok...Who has the goods on Spirit Lake?? Is it good for kiting? Launch areas? Shallow sandy beaches? Are there different launch sites for different wind directions etc?

Might have to make the trip...

Well there were still ice fisherman on Spirit last weekend and pretty solid looking. There was a big open spot on the North side about a month ago so it might be OK. There are several open spots on a couple the other lakes that might be ridable. I'll make a run up to Spirit tonight and report any good news! However, not much in the way of wind forcast this weekend.

Spirit is over 3/4 open on the north side, so it is ridable. :D There were still some crazy ice fisherman on the south side of the lake out in the middle. So, maybe you could hit the snow and the water on the same lake.
