anyone going out tomorrow?

Post by jim lehman »

I am off work tomorrow anyone heading out on Wednesday? I am thinking about driving up to Kite Island, is the ice safe to drive on or at least be on around Kite Island. I saw Eric's Map and would take that route. In Southeast MN the warmer weather over the weekend and Monday melted our snow and we had standing water on the ice. On the Minnesota Boarder to Iowa the ice was completely melted. I just to make sure before I headed up to the Cities. I know you have a ton of snow.

Thanks
Jim

There is lots of snow here. None melted in my area north of the Twin Cities. There was some open water on Lake Minnetonka last time I was there. A couple weeks ago some kids dropped in and died.

I would hike out to the island unless you see a road and plenty of evidence of cars and trucks on the ice. When you drive on the ice, keep your windows open.

There's not much wind today and with deep snow you need a little extra to keep going.
