The meager snow falls of these last few days has felt like Manna from heaven. Seeing the fields and lakes accumulate some snow cover warms my heart.
Starvation does funny things to you.
For the past month my kids have taken to scraping snow from driveways and yards throughout our neighborhood (for those willing to relinquish their right to it) and hauling it home. They save their stash in a pile where there is shade most of the day, and from time to time dole it out on a snowboard run for the backyard grinding rail. After this week's snow glut they have a lucious 4 foot high pile on reserve. There is still feverish debate daily over whether unleashing more of it would be warrented based on forecasted highs and the likelihood of more snow or not.
This moring my wife came home to find Nathan stockpiling last night's yield. A small pile, in transit, was blocking the drive. After after a flurry of negotiation about right of way Teresa backed down and parked where she would not threaten the integrity of any more snow. On the way in Nate explained, "Mom, you've got to understand... I've got to protect my assests".
