Kites On Ice update

Post by Karl B »

In case anybody is going to be in Wisconsin two weekends from now.

Time to let the cat out of the bag and let you all know the ice is super thick and mother nature is dropping snow like crazy right now in Madison, Wi.

Come and ride the slopestyle course. It's going to be huge...
Come and race your buds in a boardercross/skiercross course.
Come and ride.
Or just check out the atmosphere and learn a little about this amazing sport.

When: Feb 5th and 6th. The 4th of Feb. also for locals or those who want a sneak peak.

Where: Universtiy of Wisconsin Madison's Memorial Union on Lake Mendota.

Who: Everyone...Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy the event. Check out the other activities including a spectacular fireworks show synchronized to music on Saturday evening. A must see event.

Kites on Ice draws over 75,000 attendees each year.

What: 7th annual Kites On Ice event with the focus on the sport aspect of kiting. Snowkiting is a main focus this year and we're going all out to make sure everyone has a great time.

To show you we're serious about this...Don McKay and his crew from Tyrol Basin Ski and Snowboard Area have generously offered to let us park one or two of their snowmaking machines right on the ice and blow huge amounts of snow for a tricked out terrain park / slopestyle course. Even though mother nature is being very generous right now, we will still need more snow to build the terrain park the right way.

Slopestyle competition Saturday and Sunday at 1:00. Come and ride or come and watch.
Skiercross and Boardercross: race for fun. Grab some friends and have at it.

Major Companies attending this year's event and showing the latest and greatest gear:

Realkiteboarding. Cape Hatteras NC. Matt Nuzzo will be making the truck along with Zach Young, Gregg Knekko and either Trip Forman or Lucy Nuzzo. http://www.realkiteboarding.com

Slingshot Sports: Jeff Roberts, Alex Peterson and Aaron Sales will be seen flying around the event. The Machines... http://www.sskiteboarding.com

Ozone Kites. Brian Schenck and his bandits at http://www.windzup.com will be here in full force showing the latest and greatest gear from Ozone kites. ET (Erik Thompson) with Cabrinha will also be on hand. http://www.cabrinhakites.com

Disclaimer: This sport can and will be addictive. Be prepared for the stoke.

Note: Even though we're going all out to put on a great event for the riders, ultimately, we're trying to attract new riders to the sport, and show them how much fun we have on the snow.

Please talk to any and all interested friends and bring them along.

Come and join the stoke.

It's unfortunate that this is the same weekend as the Kitefreeze. I think most of the Slingshot crew will be up here competing, or who knows maybe they'll hit both.

have fun. Hopefully next year we can all do both.
