Port Wing

Yeah I'm definately up for it - I'll be on the road by 10 or so. Let's check the direction and if it's westerly let's do Port Wing. Give me a call when you get on the way. Should be excellent.

Option for NW

Post by JimW »

Hey Chip, have you ever sailed off the end of Park Point in a North West - going towards the Wisconsin South Shore? It would be a couple of miles to get across, but then you might have that whole shoreline (sail to Port Wing?) of breaking waves for some major fun. It would have to be truly NW though.

I have not -

You could get access down the Moccasin Mike Road if you keep to the right you end up at the base of Wisconsin point near a creek.

I guess the reason I haven’t done it is the clay in the water and the unknown of rocks in the murky water near shore.. I also, especially as it gets colder, make sure that I have “an out” within a quarter mile down wind of me at all times.

If it goes NW and blows, I’d be willing to give it a shot. My guess is that the North forecast will either turn into NE for Park Point or NW for the south shore.

Wind?

Post by JimW »

Will do for pics Tighe, if the wind actually gets here. There is a cloud front that has stalled right over us - it would have been a better call today for Mille Lacs I'm afraid. If it does happen here it will be N or NE.

Chip - I was thinking of just launching down by your place or by the Sky Harbor Airport, for a NW wind. We should do some scouting around the south shore immediately outside of Superior. I was thinking of running down the coast in an inflatable so we could zip in and out to check out the coast line. Getting a little late in the season though, but it would be a good adventure.
