Ice Monkey in action (video)

Post by Eric S »

With this snowless, and now cold and windy season this might be the board of choice for sailors and kiters in Minnesota.

Talk to Larry at Scuba Center (612) 925-4818 scubampls@aol.com or Tighe about demoing this board. Scuba Center also carries a full line of kites and accessories to make rocket go.

I wish I would have known about the Kite Monkey board early in the season, I might have jumped on that and kept my skates in the closet.

Um, I hate to argue with you Eric, but THIS is the real Ice monkey video:

Heh. I think Alex qualifies as an ice monkey. You could probably lump Joe Levins and Vojta into that category.

:-P

p.s. Eric, I'm such a slacker space-cadet idiot that I totally spaced sending you that check... We were a little busy with moving Tighe's site, amongst other things... sorry about that. It's in the mail. No, really. :-)

After I finally reinstalled DirectX on this computer, All I can say about wow.avi is WOW!

I thought I was getting some "height" on my jumps but WOW shows me that I'm still sleeping. I can only dream about jumps like that Alex! What do you charge for lessons?

The better I get a jumping, the more I realize that half of it is 90 percent mental.

Coach, not to worry! I hope you are getting some use out of the 7M JOJO ET.

Ok it looks like the deck angle turns the board. From the video it looks like his lower legs are pretty vertical when going straight. This may limit the amount of force you could drive through the board, but on ice maybe that doesn't matter.

Larry said he is getting one in this afternoon. He's such a great guy, I'm hoping he'll let me demo it...hint hint. If so I hope to be at Calhoun this weekend (afternoons) if anyone wants to check it out.

Is calhoun the call this weekend? Looks like we'll have some decent wind for kite-skate-snow-ski-boarding.

Just picked up the Monkey Board from Scuba Center. Very beefy. Basically like a mini Freeskate with snowboard binding mounting holes. Looks like a sweet rig.

I hope to be down on Calhoun tomorrow around 1-1:30. It may take a while to tame this beast.

ES,
"The better I get a jumping, the more I realize that half of it is 90 percent mental."......You got it......We certainly would be able to improve upon your jumping. For max jumpitude....the right information at the right phase of your kiting can be really valuable.

"What do you charge for lessons?"

..... The going rate for lessons is:

"Open Lessons
This lesson is a custom focused lesson. We will discuss where you are at and what you would like to achieve with your next step and develop a lesson or two to get you there. It can be anything from setting up a first kite or bar set up, to your first jumps...........and beyond.
Cost: $75.oo /hour"

....For your lesson needs, it would be 75 for the whole session, the afternoon or whatever.....where we are both out there kiting.
I'll need to demonstrate key points & explain what Im doing. Watch you. Offer suggestions. Then repeat. 10 minute segments. Adding spice as needed.
....Does that seem appropriate?

new subject:
Is there better/more universal format for the wow and co clips? AVI was how they came off the camera...seems like there has been some trouble looking at them...I tried at the library and they didn't work there either. Any suggestions?

Hey AP, we'll hook up when we get a little snow. I'd like to learn on my board. Video question; the reason I couldn't see WOW.AVI was cause I porked my computer, I've fixed that now.

UAVF - Universal Auido/Video Format (I just made that up!) There are so many different flavors now that It's hard to sort out. I've decided that it's probably easier to chase down codecs and players rather than complain about a standard format. In general I think the ones that will work for the widest audience are Quick Time, AVI (or some Microsoft flavor) or an MPEG version.
