I've pretty much decided I need to get a bigger foil for next year.
Right now my biggest is a mosquito 7.5. I'm 230 lbs.
I'm thinking either a Ozone Frenzy, Flysurfer warrior or Flexifoil.
Mark was kind enough to let me try his 9.5 frenzy and it was really nice, but it put out about the same amount of power as my 7.5.
So now I'm worried about the sizing and pull of kites in relation to my existing quiver.
Have any of you guys got any feedback on the merits of the above kites and sizing issues.Or other suggestions.
Please don't bother selling me on inflatables, I'm only going to winter kite and I don't have the patience or the lips for blowing up kites.

Felt obligated to give my 2 cents. Although regretfully I haven't had the chance to try some of the other foils you mentioned, I can attest to first hand experience with the Ozone Frenzys. You mentioned the the 9.5m pulled similar to your 7.5 mos. Have you considred the 12m Frenzy as your light wind kite? You know, towards the beginning of this season I was in the 220 lbs. range and the 12m Frenzy powered me nicely in anywhere from 7-15+ MPH winds. The greatest thing I like about my 12m is that if there is enough wind to get it in the air, it will power me. I can start jumping nicely as soon as it reaches about 10 mph+ (estimated). About 15 mph is the ultimate for jumping with my 12m. Once the wind approaches 20 mph, its time for me to start thinking about a smaller kite.
You can try my 12m Frenzy anytime. Give me a holler. Good luck in whatever you choose.

Hey jason thanks for the reply. I'll take you up on your offer of trying the 12. I really liked Marks 9.5 it steared much faster than the mos and the 4 line setup was a treat.
Where are you? , maybe have a chance to play before the ice goes away.

Hey steveb,
YOu can try out this Viokite VR-8 I have anytime your north of the cities too.. It's a foil that a guy from canada sent me to try out. I'm also a foil lover and I think it's pretty cool. They're trying to establish US distributors right now so this one I have is a demo kite for anyone to test out and see if it's something they want to purchase. I'm thinking about picking up a bigger one from him for both summer and winter use. It even has a pretty sweet zipper system that sort of allows you two kite sizes for guys on a tighter budget. So keep that option open for a try before you buy too. The designer has told me this next season he's developing a snow specific kite so I'm looking forward to those too. And since they are closed cell kites they supposedly work great on water too.

Steve-
Temps are getting up there, especially in the forecast. The ice is still ski-able. I was on my board today for a little while in half ice-half chunky soft slushy snow type stuff.
I will be available from Thursday thru Sunday to meet up with you. I'm in Brainerd, but travel to Mille Lacs now and then. Mille Lacs has tons-o-ice still. We kite Skied at Cove Bay all day on Sunday. There were Four full size trucks on the lake (fisherman).
You know what would be sweet is if Todd Hanson showed up with his SwitchBlade rigged boards. Todd, lets shred the ice with the mono blade brother. Are you out there...Todd...Todd! CALLING SWITCHBLADE MAN!
Probably to busy cutting endless ice up in Crosslake.
How about an ice/slush fest this weekend? Anyone game? YOU KNOW...it could be that nice edgeable honeycomb type ice by this weekend. Edgeable on skis or a SwitchBlade that is.
Anyone feeling the need to milk out the ice season for everything that it is worth...please reply now. hehe
Later,

weekend
Depending on the forcast, I could come up either sat or Sunday, pray for some wind.
Hey Steve,
Even though you are not looking too much at North right now, I would be glad to let you test ride my 8m Husky. I think that the main advantage is that it tends to remain inflated even when it pops out of the window after a gust. None of the collapsing/snaking problem. But I am only comparing it to an '03 Frenzy and an '03 Windwing foil.
You can ride it and see for yourself. At least it will give you a feel for what other foils are out there.

Thanks Denis, I just didn't think of the husky, but there's no doubt yours looks great and huks ya a plenty.I'd love to try it.
If the winds good would you be up for heading North this weekend?
I confess I don't have Marks and your stamina, judging from last Saturday......zzzzzzzz!. But I'd sure like to spend the daylight hours riding with you animals.
