Tighe and I just got back from a road trip to Cannon.
I was a little light at first but we skied in our own tracks and a few snowmobile tracks to get through the deep snow. It must be over a foot of snow or more down there. Then the wind came up at about 5 pm. It was just like skiing powder in Steamboat we are so worked....only about 7 semis in the ditch on the way down.
You dudes should have called in sick.

What a great session.. I knew when I stepped out of the truck and the snow was over my Sorels that it was going to be gooooood. Real Gooood.

It was the deepest snow I have been in. Lean back and you ride up to the top, carve with both skis and dig in. Very smooth.

We couldn't stop. The wind increased as nightime fell. The white out turned to a dark grey out, and the surface disappeared...then the sky cleared a bit and the almost full moon lit the way. Very cool.

What a wonderful gift. Not sure what tomorrow will bring. We'll probably head back to Cannon for a dawn patrol. The wind seems a bit stronger and longer down there in the am.

Hope to see you out there...

Out of curiosity...

What size/kind of kites were you using? What was the wind? Approximate weights would help too. Apologies if this is a blatantly newbie question, but I'm trying to get a better feel for kite size/wind velocity/weight ratio.

As an engineer, I'm dying for a single metric that covers everything, maybe " m^2/ kg * m/s " (or ft^2 / lb * mph).

Cheers,
James

I was on my 19m '04 Fuel with very short skis (130) and Scott was on his longer traditional skis and his 14m. I weigh 185 and he weighs about 160.

I could have easily been on my 15 if I had longer skis or with a bit less snow. You need a lot of power though we the snow is that deep.
