Minnesota Snowcover

Post by Eric S »

Hello,

Are there any lakes with at least 50 percent snowcover? Jerry showed me a snowcover map and it looked like the NW part of the state had some. Does anyone have an eyewitness account of rideable snow?

Thanks,

We recieved a couple of inches in bemidji, I got one more session in on friday before coming home for a few weeks. The wind is very strange and it always seems to blow harder than it says, friday forecast 15-25, when I left it was 23 gusting to 35.

Lake Bemidji is a big lake but has to many huts, the snow tends to drift but the snow conditions on friday were the best I have had this year. I am sure there are lakes around that area that would be good, I just don't have a car to check them out, so I have one launch all the time, and its mostly offshore, but I can't complain, its a gruiling 5 minute walk from my dorm to my launch.

Mahtomedi Beach on the east side of White Bear has quite a lot of snow. Herve and I kited downwind yesterday to check out that part of the lake when we saw some kites in the air. Joe L. and a crew were there with inflatables. Much of the blowing snow from the lake is accumulating there. I plan to go there for some action on Monday.

Thanks guys. We were out at school section lake today. the wind was really blowing. Jerry was on 4.0 and freeskate and I was on 3.3 and snowboard. There is no loose snow, just some spots that must have gotten wet and collected a few flakes.

Maybe we could check out WBL monday too.

Just checking for updates on snow coverage??

Is there anything up north?? Like anywhere up north. We are looking for a nice sized lake covered with snow. Is there such a thing? Is it going to snow this season?? I've had enough Ice riding already!!

Pray For Snow!!

I put a link in the "Knowledge" section. So you are saying there is NO snow in the Lakes Area? Darn.
