Balsam Lake WI on Saturday 1/31 and Sunday 2/1

Post by leifer »

Driving to Balsam Lake, Wisconsin tomorrow (Saturday) for some snow kiting.

It's located about 1.5 hours NE of Minneapolis.

According to Intellicast and NOAA, there is snow there.

For Intellicast snow cover info go here: http://goo.gl/Pizmlc

... then select 'layers', then 'snow cover'.

This access point (off of highway 46) looks best. Here: http://goo.gl/QGj9Og

I was thinking the same thing for Saturday. Only I am looking at the South public access of Bone Lake a few miles Northeast of Balsam Lake. Bone Lake lines up nice for the NNW winds. The NOAA interactive snow map shows 10-14 inches in a relatively small area around these lakes.
