Flysurfer Peak2

Post by Matt V »

Anybody with info on this 2nd generation of this kite. Looks like they are pimping it as now being freestyle capable. I may be in if I had not ponied up for another brand already. Any one know of any where in MN that I could demo one?

I have a 9M Peak 1 and recently the 12M Peak 2. Both awesome low end kites and the easiest kite to launch and land. I can landboard or snowkite in 5kts with the 12m. Peak2 is better than 1 for jumping and freestyle although not as easy as The FS speed or Ozone Summit. Due to higher aspect the 12m tips tend to tuck more often with the default setup for unhook and most depowered. You just need to slide the big knots at the bridal toward the kite or keep constant tension on back lines. I have both kites with me this week while in MN for the holidays. Had a few snowkiting sessions in SW MN in 5-10knts since Saturday. I'm back in Eagan until Thursday and hope to get out locally WBL or Calhoun if ice is safe. Feel free to stop by and check out the kites if I'm out.

They look like they could be my next kite! But I am doing too much traveling this winter for snow to afford one. Though they still seem to be the lowest cost kite to save your tubies wear and tear on the snow. Nice that FS actually dropped their prices this year when other MFG's went up by $400.00 per kite.

Backline tension is not a favorite of mine. HQ Montana 5's turn with total slack in the back lines and stabilize well too. I love them for that. But even the Frenzy's have a tight feel to them that I think is just trying to be more like an inflatable then they need to. I like the foil feel on the snow, not a foilish feel with sudden tube kite feel.

And thanks for the offer. But a foil kite made of gold would not pull me away from central South Dakota. Lighter winds mean forecasts in 13-17mph range which is what I love. But the powder and terrain is worth it. The powder does takes a little more energy to get through, but my legs an abs will heal.

I may be here for a while.

Where do you hail from?

Back east seems to be the place for snow these past few years. Any chance you will be at the Mille Crossing this year?

We got lucky last year but not much snow this year yet. Supposed to be in the 50s this weekend so still nice to get out on the water.

Yes, some kiting buddies and I will be at Mille Lacs XC this year.
