I was thinking Lk Waconia or Lk Washington after noon, but the weather has been downright wonky lately. Anyone going out?
Speaking of wonky weather, last weekend I had about an hour and a half to do some kiting while at a family get together at my in-laws on Lk Minnetonka. The wind forecast was looking good all day long. Not many good launch spots on Minnetonka so I talked a couple relatives into boating me out to the middle of upper lake. I explained it would be entertaining and they might even get to see my wipe out good and can rescue me. I inflated my kite and jumped onto the front of the pontoon. It was so windy I could barely hang onto the kite. Then I swear the very minute I let out my lines and dropped the kite in the water, the wind disappeared. I told my dissapointed relatives that it will just take a few minutes and the wind will pick back up. For an hour, nothing but me drifting in the water getting cold and my relatives asking when the wind would blow. Then I decided to pack it up and went back. About 30 minutes later the wind picked back up again. Here's a screenshot of the wind. You can see exactly the hour that i chose to kite.
