Flying Delta with Gear...

Post by smrsco »

Anyone fly Delta with gear recently? Their luggage policy states that a kiteboard is $150 but a wakeboard is the standard checked bag fee. Wondering if I should go the golf bag route or if it's not even necessary since they're not likely to argue that my TT is not a wakeboard.

Never had any issues with just sending stripped down boards wrapped in cardboard and carpet down there. Just typical luggage.....

I really think weight is a bigger issue, keep it light!

Thanks! Golf it is. Since I'm only planning on traveling with one board I found an actual golf travel bag that will fit my board. I'll probably hit play it again and pick up a old club to throw in there too.

I've always used the "wake board" explanation and have never had trouble. I pack the kite in a vaccuum space saver bag and that seems to work well.
