Apparently I have a little too much junk in the trunk and pulled the booty seam apart in my wet suit. Anyone have any suggestions for seam glue for wetsuits? Any tips on the repair process are also welcome.
Thanks,
Chad

I cannot get the crotch of my 5-4-3 suit with lots of smoothskin to stay intact. So I found a solution to that cold shock in the most sensitive of places for really cheap and only a 1 time hassle.
Walmart sells a 2mm neoprene biker short that goes under my "holy" suit. I had to pull out the side zipper and sew it together there so the zipper does not bite into my side. That only took about an hour with a seam ripper, needle, and thread. But it stops that cold shock from happening and I have just given up on trying to fix the crotch of this suit. Being only 2mm, the neoprene biker shorts are not bulky enough under the suit to make anything more constrictive. Since it is only the bottom, you do not have the upper body constrtiction that a shorty under the suit would give you. I could not find the product on Walmart online, but it is in the exercise section (I just found them - http://www.walmart.com/ip/Gold-s-Gym-Sl ... s/21836790). The other hurdle you need to get over with these is that they come in a pink box with a woman on the front and a guy in the background. I think they are unisex. The last warning about these is that they smell really bad right out of the box. Like the chemical finishing never was rinsed off of the raw neoprene before they were boxed up. This smell does not wash off right away, but does go away after about 4 times in the water.
Aqua seal is good stuff and you should always have some in your kit unless you are really close to a store that stocks it. You can store an open tube in the freezer and it will last for years.
If you use Aqua seal on smooth skin, the neoprene smooth skin will rip right at the edge of the aqua seal. I would like to hear a solution for that as I do not know of one myself.

Midwest Mountaineering has a neoprene repair shop. If you are unsure about succeeding at DYI repair, take it in have find out if they can pull it off and how much $$ that would require.
Re: Wet suit seam glue or repair glue suggestions?
I just tried soaking a patch of spandex with adhesive and putting it on the inside of the suit, & then applying just enough to fill the tear on the outside. A sheet of wax paper on both surfaces kept it from sticking, while it was sandwiched between two boards under some weights.
It dried overnight. I have yet to test it, but it worked well on "Rubber Night" at the Pervo Emporium.
