OSAKIS

Heading west to Lake Osakis south launch in city of Osakis. Andy of Sauk Centre says its has nice shallow launch. Great for drift launching and large body of water to kite/windsurf. :)

My intern this summer has a cabin on this lake and says the same thing. Enjoy the ride, take pics and post results either here or https://www.facebook.com/lakawamn

Well....the wind didn't happen :( Wished the experimental 24 would work  The lake looks promising for riding, but the lake weeds just below the surface grabs your lines for drift launching. Assisted launching will work. Next lake to test out for riding will be Minnewaska in Glenwood. :)

ELTON SAID IT BEST: "I want to be high as a kite by then..." Does that translate as 23 to 25 meters? I can't seem to break the 20 meter barrrier without a change in undergarments, but that was wind assisted with an asterisk in the record book....I went to a summer lake festival in Glennwood when Brewpops, not kites were used to attain altitude..that's about all I remember now. Last time I looked closely at Mike, he already has his head in the clouds.

I drive by Osakis on my way home from Ottertail or Miltona and it always looks a little green with a lot of rushes. We rode it once in the winter and it was fine, especially for a W to NW to N. Kim and Steve have checked out Minnewaska and it sounds like the beach would work with a westerly breeze in the off season when there is not a beach crowd. Lake Mary just west and south of Alex works with a SE but Miltona is a better option in my opinion.

GOT TO TRY MILTONA, FINALLY... Worth the drive. O.T. is next on the list for that area. Thanks for the recommendation! 8)
