I heard you were at Clear Lake Ia on Memorial day. Do you know if you can still launch from the public beach in the downtown area? Also, how is the boat traffic?
I'm thinking this will be the closest wind spot this weekend.

Hey Steve,
I can comment as I make it to Clear Lake often. Kites should not be launched from City beach, windsurfing is okay. Clear Lake is busy this time of year so the beaches will be as well. There is allot of boat traffic, however they tend to stay in the nonwind shorelines so not really a problem. For those who go, remember there are not many lakes in Iowa and its critical that everyone is safe and respectful so not to put the riders in jeapordy of loosing the rights to ride Clear Lake.

I've sailed Clear Lake 3-4 times in the past few years but haven't been recently so just wanted to check on the current status. I launched from the public beach before without any hassles. I am always respectful of the locals so no fears.
Had my first opportunity to sail Storm Lake Ia a couple weeks ago, had the lake to myself.
