Both days are looking quite good. Temps in the mid 50s, sunshine, and winds 15-25mph WNW.

I feel for ya Netdewt. You've been super stoked this fall and the conditions have been sorta challenging for ya. Either extremely windy or poor beginner launches. I think Malmo could work tomorrow. It will be SideON but if you walk out a good distance and put your kite down or walk out before you are too close to land you should be fine. I'd check in the morning. If it's been upgraded it might be a bit much for that 11m. Did you get a 7m?

Not sure what I am doing most likely Father Hennepin. Maybe Malmo. Maybe Waconia.

Probably Waconia on Sun.

Yep, I got a 7M, a T2 also, in far worse shape than the 11M, but dirt cheap. :)

I'll of course check the forecast in the morning. I bought all this wetsuit gear, I might as well use it.

It looks like MK will be at Medicine again.

Looks like it might be going a bit more west than planned. Another option for you could be belaire on white bear lake. If it's west it will be side shore and there are shallows about a mile downwind and with the water as low as its been there is quite a gap to the trees on shore. Hopefully all the docks are out now. I wouldn't go too far from shore or go more than smile downwind, because it opens up into a big bay to the east. Just another thought.

Yeah if you can hook up with an instructor and get a ride upwind that's the best.

Enjoy the day.

Slopecat and I are meeting with MK at Medicine. I had thought of Bellaire also, but I don't know much about the shallows there or the lake really. If I can swing it and today doesn't leave me in a puddle, I thought about heading to Bellaire tomorrow.

Me and my day just got back from the Drag at Washington. It was probably 15 mph all day and we were the only ones there so it turned out to be a pretty nice session. We were talking to the guy that lives right next to the launch and he was telling us how sweet it is when we are out there and how much he likes to watch us. He even gave the idea of setting up a kite event or something. We do have some pretty nice locals here in Minnesota.

I drove out to Lake Washington on Friday. It was my first time there. Considerably further than Waconia, but closer than Mille Lacs. There were only two of us -- me and Pete. I was completely lit on my 9m.

Good, good lake on a NNW wind. The entire lake seems shallow. Might be a good option for Sunday. If there's enough west in the wind, Malmo is a good choice.

Hey Adam,
You weren't alone on Washington this afternoon. I was kiting out of Ellsworth Landing and saw you down on the East end of the lake. Great winds. I'll bet
the sandbar was kickin' up some great rollers down there. I thought there was too much NW for Drag. Nice to see Marc out on Fri, need more people to come out here and enjoy this great lake.

Medicine was OK. Really nice shallows. It was a great day for me. I flew the 7M first just to regain my confidence. Then the wind started being more inconsistent. Everyone was having trouble keeping their kites in air for a while, except one guy who was a master with a 10M (Luke?), he was ripping around the whole time. By the time I got my 11M up the wind had died down, but I was able to keep it up long enough to get practice flying the kite while coordinating the board. I got up on the board for about 2 seconds before the wind died down too much to fly. And my Donkey fell off... :? ha.

I'd like to go out again today with everything fresh. Not sure if I can manage both weekend days, but the fact that this may be my last chance might hold some weight.

Mike and Jim say there are some shallows S of the DNR boat launch at Waconia, which could work. My biggest worry is overcrowding there today. I may go back to Medicine if anyone else is there.

Glad you were able to get out. The winds at Waconia are going to be close to directly onshore, with trees to the water line. You can get out maybe two kite lines worth, south of the boat launch. Not great if you're not riding upwind yet. If Jim, Chad or Mike bring their jetski you might be able to get a ride up into the lake and do a downwinder to the launch.

hope you get some. I think you're right though it may be one of our last reasonably warm ones.

I stopped by Medicine Sunday ready to go, not knowing what to expect. Way too windy and gusty. I deferred to the expertise of the 3 kiters there and stayed on shore - Kim, Eu Han, Brian. Thanks for letting me hang out for a bit.

Thanks for all the help/advice. I appreciate it.

Hey NetDewt, glad you hung around to keep an eye on us. Conditions that day was pretty crappy, but we managed to get some rides in here and there. It was really punchy and unpredictable out there with the winds switching around and crazy gusts. Anyway, you will get some rides in pretty soon, be safe and make conservative choices in these conditions. I've been there and am very glad I never took the risks when i first started out. Good luck!

Eu Han

P.S. is your name John? Sorry, I forgot.
