Off-shore zone forecast (Marquette area)...

Thursday Night...North gales to 40 knots increasing to storm force winds to 55 knots by midnight. Showers likely through midnight...then a chance of showers after midnight. Waves building to 20 to 25 feet.

They are calling for 40knot gales for the south shore over here on thursday... might have to check it out!

This is the time somebody should check out portage entry over at Houghton MI in the UP. you can start sailing inside the breakwater which is kind of like the Superior Entry, but sail into the big lake too. Its not unusual to have side/on shore gales with impressive waves. Beach on both sides of the entry...

I might try getting in the lake for the first time this season..

WOW... ive never seen park point that gorgeous in my life.

Got there at around 8, and walked over the dunes and saw what reminded me of hawaii. There were tubes upon tubes of perfect crystal clear slightly bluish water. My jaw just dropped! 2-3 ft waves on the inside break, the middle break was rocking 4 footers, and the last break, if you stood on top of the dunes, were clearly head high. And every one created that mesmerizing effect where you can imagine yourself just tucking up under a crest, and riding it forevor!

Pumped my 12. Wind was not good, started blowing 15-20 wnw than picked up to about 20 g 30, and anyone whos rode that kind of wind at park point knows it sucks big time, your tacking straight out into the waves and theres no going upwind. so i just pulled a big downwinder from 22nd to the beach house and then packed up, walked back, and left it was enough for me. unbelievable fun! never got out to the last break i was too scared with that wind direction.

Cant wait for the next NE!
